No single person or entity possesses ALL of the required information on all participant parties and organizations i.e. SAS, DELTA, etc. To REALLY simplify my argument: you have not a single shred of verifiable data to prove or disprove anything related to whatever metric you choose as "best." The 'best' publicly verified fighter jet in existence at this moment is the F-22 Raptor. It could lose to a crop-duster under rare circumstances. Respectfully, this statement is a false fallacy that cannot be verified because too many moving parts, shifting metrics and political attention and funding as well as downsizing in some countries. Seems like the Operator's will and determination is assured to win ANY encounter and that simply is not true. Logistics, politics, and other rarely debated boring stuff is why the present conflict ran totally contrary to EVERY prediction out there. Britain can punch well above it's weight class, but sheer numbers matter and all of that put together proves how "best" is different depending on the view from your location. Don't forget the Ghurkas as even the modern ones are regularly called terrifying and absolute masters in the art of killing humans according to the many, many Special Forces that go and train with the primary purpose being to being exposed to the Ghurka style of fighting because any insurgent faced after facing a Ghurka or Ghurkas will seem like a special needs individual playing make-believe war not realizing his death is moments away from the man who has been enlightened by the Ghurka. That's a summary of European country's head of special forces take on the Ghurka.

Very interesting video. However, at 11:55, after having been instructed on the absolute importance of silence and using hand-signals in the field, the soldier is using hand-signals while operating a GPS device that 'beeps' with every button push. I know it's just a demo, but ironic, no?

While watching SAS survival secrets with eddie and mac thry stated at no point would they be lighting fires as this could give away their positions, plus some survival equipment judt wouldn't be taken like the saw, why would they be cutting wood as it could say to the enemy we were here, fornthe reason they poo into a bag and take it with them so they can't be tracked.

Never served. Medically disqualified. Always wanted to career it and have stayed fascinated with it. I've always heard SERE and training in that vein can really suck and be fun as it gets adrenaline going like no other training can. All sum it in ways like you did but you took their 30-45 second summaries and put it in the most eloquent two sentences that COULD have been one. LOL, you shoulda been a writer man! " Taught me a lot about myself though and my limits... It was fun but I'd never do it again. "-----------That's a life's lessons quote if I ever heard one.

@jelkel25
@jelkel25 8 жыл бұрын
Why are people getting bent out of shape about what is obviously a production made with very little money that shows mostly things regular infantry are taught, you don't think they'd be stupid enough to go into that much detail on film? For starters, the enemy wouldn't have seen a real SAS hide unless they stepped on it, there was one at the end of Stanley airport runway all the way through the Falklands war that was never spotted.
@nacholibre1962
@nacholibre1962 8 жыл бұрын
+jelkel25 Agreed, but that doesn't change the fact that tis vid is shyte! Which begs the question, why bother? Why didn't Davies advise properly for the vid? It's not like the SOPs are state secrets. This vid makes the lads loom like twats! Utter dross and a waste if time IMO.
@mrprototype438
@mrprototype438 8 жыл бұрын
+Albert Head You do understand that the point of this video was not to teach SAS operational tactics, but to teach basic survival skills right? The plot dictated they needed to be captured so they set up, an all be it unrealistic, scenario where they were captured.
@nacholibre1962
@nacholibre1962 8 жыл бұрын
Mr Prototype Not disputing that. Just saying the vid was utter dross!
@mrprototype438
@mrprototype438 8 жыл бұрын
Albert Head But the purpose of the vid is to teach survival techniques in the event of things going arse up, not SOP or OpSec. So the plot dictated that they had to get caught, it is not like they are going to show how to counter a proper OP. They are going to show it being countered through a situation that those operators would never get themselves into. Because that is good OpSec. Don't show a potential enemy a real way to counter your forces.

higher means farther (and off targets) since you can't adjust the propelling force on m203, also if it doesn't explode what's the purpose behind firing it when the hostiles are close?

For me I've always assumed the hardest part about being a solider is after you've left the army and you no longer have that sort of close knit camaraderie, like at 14:10. You go from working in an elite unit responsible for countless lives and millions of £ of equipment to working security at ASDA.

***** Thermal Imaging is infrared. FLR/FLIR stands for Forward Looking InfraRed. Night vision on the other hand is usually just a light amplification device. Any CAM that is that is environmentally appropriate would be low observable (LO) to light amplification (night vision) devices, after all if it is LO in normal light, then it would be even more effective in low light situations, even after going through a low light amplification device. But I'm still gonna have to call BS on AusCam, or any other in-service CAM being invisible against any IR (infrared) sensors... Sorry.

The interrogators sound awfully British lol yeah I know they are just actors, but you can at least get some foreign people playing the foreign forces, or at least have the actor put on an accent of some kind

This would have much more views if Americans didn't think their special forces were the best. If they actually realised the British are the best then I'm sure there would be at least double the views. Alas, ignorance is bliss.

Since when would the SAS use an M16A1 rifle ?. They're pretty much the worst "new" ARs . Even the ColtM4 is better. The M16A1 was made cheap and massproduced for Vietnam and prone to jamming with by the slightest dirt, and it's been said the poor quality of the rifle cost many marines their lives.
