Written by Steven Knight of Peahy Blinders fame. The same style, modern music used, very stylish, cracking story and about as real as peaky was to 1930s gangsters in B'ham. Writing strong female roles is one of his strengths hence i suppose the invention of the french agent. Its a good watch, but the real story is just as amazing, just not as exquisitely shot.

Interesting to see an Indian officer in one of the scenes. My grandfather (Australian) rarely spoke of the war but did say that he found the Indians to be an amazingly courageous force. Spoke highly of the British soldiers also. But British officers were as “useful as tits on a bull”.

Don't believe most things in series 1 about Paddy Mayne... He wasnt gay, he didnt hit his commanding officer, he wasnt found in a jail by Sterling,.. Check out Peter Forbes talk on PADDY and a book or podcast called THE PHONEY MAGOR about Sterling ..

correct me if I am wrong here but if you look at these organizations, the LRDG and SAS they were drawn from Brits, Kiwis, and Rhodesians if memory serves. I know more about the LRDG than the SAS, but not every commonwealth nation allowed their men to be used in these sorts of units

@Serial_SleeperАй бұрын
In a war fuel is rationed so carrying extra weight is useless

@Serial_Sleeper so if they made it to Tobruk, the trucks would turn into 3 tonne paperweights? More of a hinderance than help.
@ILikeHittingDrumsАй бұрын
@@dwhitey you understand that in ww2 there were 100's if not 1000's of these convoys right? The actual trucks were cheap. and mass made, the fuel was more expensive. and harder to come by ESPECIALLY in a desert
