My clubbing life started in 1992 in Leeds and slowed around 97. We went over to Manchester occasionally for the hacienda and ended up at a place called The Limit now and then but what I did notice was that alot of mancs came over to Leeds for up yer Ronson, soak, back to basics and vague nights. Suppose we all took how good an era it was for clubbing for granted.

I was there! Was a top night. Had a big ferris wheel outside.. in December! Had a blast of that, then straight in to the main room for the man like. Home was a great little sweatbox too.... cracking night!

Defo agree with you there mate....and yeah the first track is a belter. I have every track on vinyl except for D-Tox - Heaven which is super rare....it's not even listed on Discogs or under Valentines page. If you like this mix mate, check out a mix i did which has a few of the tunes off this mix on it. Btw, D-Tox i ripped to mp3 as mate of mine has a copy, so used a CDJ....he paid 50p for it out of a bin somewhere back in the day....lucky git! It was mate. You either had to be a trainspotter and hang around record shops....or read things like mixmag update or other mags around at the time.

8wealthyone8 Mail order promos or white labels, all about royal mail, OR stand in a decent record shop for hours sifting thru vinyls, listening for a quick sample of each track Top DJ's would more than likely get them all thru the mail.

This mix was the turning point for me....everything that followed in 95 was the BT sound. Personally i prefer everything from 92 to end of 94.

Yeah this mix was when Sasha was going into his mid 90's trance sound. I agree, the Renaissance sound of early progressive house from '92 up until '94 was a lot funkier, more uplifting and more varied. The mid and late 90's BT superclub sound is a bit samey, it's when the likes of Sasha and Oakenfold were becoming proper superstar DJ's, and the club scene was becoming massive and crossing into the mainstream. The boom in mix CD's around '94 was a big turning point. Before that it was just bootleg club tapes which stayed in the underground. I can still enjoy this mix though - at least Sasha was still turning out quality sets and had clubs rocking. He's pretty boring these days, the bpm's are so much slower. Back then he was a clubber himself, that's one of the reasons he was such a hero on the scene.
