One thing we did with our grain leg was put a pulley at the top with a long rope and bucket on the end so you can haul stuff up without have to carry it up. And people can get you things wen ur at the top and don’t want to climb all the way back down to get a flat scraper. lol.
@mattunderwood15232 ай бұрын
Yep, that’s what we do with our legs as well. Saves trying to climb up with a bunch of tools in your hands or an awkward backpack. We’ll also keep spare belts and a couple simple tools at the top too.

Happy Monday for me ,Friday for you. Jan I enjoy watching your daily work on the Dairy farm. So many things to do that you and the crew does. Your Dad is a stoic man but looks like a sweet man just the same. My hat is off to your two riders and your mom who feeds your crew with great good. My # 1 draw is your smile and humor which is Priceless. Thank you for each post to do. A fan in Minneapolis.

Hello. I always enjoy your content. As a kid who grew up on a small dairy in Saskatchewan I can relate to so much of it! I also bred, owned, showed and judged dairy goats so I also follow your sister's channel. A name for the cheese plant? How about 'Saskat CHEWIN' Cheeses' ? Hopefully one day some goat 🐐 cheeses can be added to the cheese line-up.

Asquith Saskatchewan. Soon to be known as the Gouda capital of western Canada. Have you thought of putting in a retail milk machine as well? One stop shopping.😊
@timothymbonham44532 ай бұрын
Don't know about in Sask, but here there are a lot of expensive regulations required to sell milk at retail. Probably not worth the effort.
@asquithmainlines6992 ай бұрын
@ There is a farm just north of Saskatoon called Sunnyside Creamery. They have a milk dispenser from which you can purchase milk on tap up to 5 gallons containers. The milk is pasteurized but not homogenized which is good for cheese making. They were the first to do this in Saskatchewan and I am sure that they could explain the process if Jan’s family was at all interested. Being west of Saskatoon they would not really be competing. I am not sure if they are even considering selling cheese retail from the farm but if they are I thought the two might go together nicely and create more interest.

Hey there, I worked at a leg system like yours and we always had build up at the head. What solved it was to Polly which is a thick plastic for the top of the head, it seemed to slide product better. Have to seal the head the best you can to keep moisture out. Just my two cents

Whatching you scrape the yard reminds me of my last job in farming at a dairy farm, the collecting yard for the milking palour ws outside, although we dont get anywhere near ther the winters here in uk that you do, when we did get hard frosts using the normal yard scraper would often not touch the manure im not using the term we would have used🤣 so we would have to chip it off or if lucky scrape it off with the bicket on the loader tractor

Jan, what if you installed some 'air nozzles' in the various intersections of the feed handler conveyors? Periodically, while the units are running a blast of air would seem like a 'self-cleaning' method that would reduce the down time significantly? Also, if the build up of dust/feed residue were jetting out of 'corners' once in a while they'd not be able to create the caked in restrictions? Just a thought, a main air tube up then radiating distribution lines to various key junctions doesn't seem like much cost compared to having that entire system shut down randomly?
