I remember staring at the TV for what felt like an hour afterwards, after program change, completely speechless. Initially, surely thinking it would be overturned (it definitely was impossible to shoot that in .04) and then just refusing to believe that could possibly happen to us. Love our Spurs but when we lose, we lose in the most heartbreaking and dramatic of fashion (.04, TMAC :13, Ray Allen, Barry getting fouled in 08, Manu fouling Dirk) that has brought many a grown man to tears. Lol

This rivalry is the absolute pinnacle in the modern NBA era, especially in the 2000’s. The 🧹in 99, the heartbreak, embarrassment of 01/02, the sweet, sweet redemption of 03, .04 (nothing more needs to be said in SA), the imploding and dismantling of Kobe/Shaq iteration, the pain of the 08 WCF (the closest we ever got B2B) and I count ‘13 LA fans (injured Kobe was on that team 😅). Some wonderful and lasting memories and an intense rivalry. We see now all the mutual respect for each other since time passed, I’ve heard Kobe talk about with reverence on All the Smoke which was so nice to hear, but during the time, that hate burned white hot. #LakersSuck #GoSpursGo

Man the best part was at the end where we were all tied up at 92 wins each against each other as of 1-24-23. Bad ass. Spurs fan here and I truly understand and miss Kobe now. Wish we had more of him 😢 RIP.

The 2004 series was a disappointing one, especially with Fisher’s shot, considering it wiped away Tim’s extraordinary shot over Shaq. And this one is overlooked, but the 2008 western conference finals was heartbreaking too, including that no-call on Fisher when he clearly fouled Brent Barry. In short, I hate Derek Fisher lol.

And of course, Joey Crawford, just 1 year removed from being BANNED for the entire 2007 postseason due that altercation with Duncan, was officiating that game 4 of the '08 WCF, and EMPHATICALLY gestured "no foul" after Fisher blatantly fouled Barry. Go figure
