Definitely Sasuke’s coldest moment the entire series. People really be sleeping on pre-Ms Sasuke and his power capabilities. Even though Itachi held back against him the fact he was able to create such a powerful jutsu on his own without any previous training shows just how powerful Sasuke even was before getting the power-ups of the Mangekyou Sharingan. Dudes an absolute monster. Easily kage level or more. Naruto had every right to be afraid of this version of Sasuke. And would probably have never eclipsed Sasuke’s power had he not mastered Sage mode. Sasuke’s training with Orochimaru really paid off even though Orochimaru was just trying to steal his body for himself.

I personally love Kirin over Indra's Arrow cause this is straight from personal original Sasuke's play book without any copying. And he reated 2 different versions of it so he could drop it on Itachi's head anywhere he found him. 1 is the natural form in this video where he uses cumulonimbus clouds to summon Kirin and the second one where he uses hand signs to call Kirin down even if the sun is out and there isn't a cloud in sight, like when he was about to nuke team 7 at the hideout. Kirin got so hyped up as THAT Sasuke move in early Shippuden, like it was so dangerous that orochimaru had to pull up and grab Sasuke and be like "Bro can you like not kill all of us and them for like 5 minute please! We don't need the writers to rename the show again this early on in the series!". And it's used so sparingly so when you see it come down from the heavens and obliterate the surrounding area you cant help but be in awe of how dedicated Sasuke was to killing Itachi. And personally I believe that since Sasuke has this in his back pocket in early Shippuden, he no difs early Shippuden Naruto who spent 2 years training and only came out of it with a slightly larger rasengan. Both of these things were hyped up as THE thing they worked on while they were apart so Sasuke definitely is leagues ahead of Naruto at least until either he creates the rasenshurikin or, when I personally believe naruto surpasses Sasuke, when can throw it in sage mode during the pain fight cause the rasenshurikin is completely insane on its own and has OP levels of destructive power just ask kakuzu the only issue with it was how how much strain it puts on Naruto's body that it was overpowering even kuruma's healing factor so all Sasuke has to do is basically wait Naruto out and he wins but by the Pain Arc now it's Sage Amped and throwable AND can explode once it gets near targets making it some kind of crazy Sensor AOE move that Sasuke can't really dodge or stop and can blitz Sasuke if he tries to use Kirin. I don't think sage Naruto can tank a Kirin, considering he had to have the kuruma avatar around him to tank it, but I don't think Sasuke at that point would ever get an opportunity to be able to summon it considering how haxed sage mode makes the user cause there is no hiding and Sen Jutsu amps the user with 0 withdrawals unlike let's say SSJ 3 has on the user in Dragon Ball. So like in total I think that Sasuke is ahead of Naruto until the end of the Pain Arc. Ands it's mostly due to Kirin being in Sasukes back pocket anywhere he goes and only gets stronger the more the fight drags on considering how heavy Sasuke uses fire style in tandem with his Tai Jutsu and once things start catching on fire well.... Just ask Itachi how the receiving end of a fire amped Kirin tastes. I didn't mention the chakra cloaks cause I don't believe any of the forms we saw Naruto go into at that point (1-4) would be able to, how do you say it.... Eat it and keep going. I think 1 and 2 get vaporized 3 is ify but 4 tails is not dying to Kirin but is definitely getting knocked the fuck out by it cause 4 tails cloak amps Naruto but is hurting him by the same amount so Kirin would connect the cloak would eat most of the lethal damage but once it pops Naruto isn't getting up after basically taking double damage to the body. At 5+ tails your basically just squaring up with kuruma at that point and during the Pain arc if your not Pain or Obito then it's a no dif one sided stomp by kuruma who's destroying everything including the surrounding area and going on a rampage. Which makes me think that even though Pain (Diva Path specifically) could fight Kuruma,and possibly just chibaku tensei sealed or black hole seal, Nagato original planned for the Akatsuki to jump Naruto and Kuruma last cause Kuruma has always been known to be the strongest tailed beast over them all that's why Tobirama told his brother to keep the Nine Tails in the leafs possession. Which I think is a good idea considering we saw how good just the Six paths of Pain did then we'd just make it even more of a stomp by adding every other Akatsuki member to it. I think together the Akatsuki could've brought Kuruma down mid to high difficulty. And if it takes a jumping to take down half of Kuruma then Sasuke without a perfect Susanoo is just getting stomped into the ground no difficulty

Itachi was also deathly afraid of his father’s Mangekyou and what it could do. Since he was aware that he could put him under genjutsu easily or use it to control kurama. He even says himself that he feared his father more than anyone in the hidden leaf and was thinking so hard and planning on what to do about him had he not found Madara/Obito. Let’s be honest, had Fugaku not surrendered the way he did and went all out against his own son, he probably would’ve either killed Itachi, placed him under Genjutsu and brought him to Lord Third, or let him escape with his life barely intact. I mean he was called wicked eye Fugaku for a reason. So it’s safe to assume this was the second time Itachi feared for his life or safety since he could walk.

Considering that the Naruto mangaka highly respects the mangaka of HunterxHunter, Togashi, and was inspired by him for his Narutoseries (for example the red Kurtaeyes) itś not far fetched to say that Sasukes move was inspired by Togashi. In Togashis Series Yu Yu Hakusho is a character named Hiei (who btw has some similarities character-wise with Sasuke) who also uses a dragon which is surrounded by a lightning-looking substance (it’s spiritual power though, not real lightning like Sasukes).

That prob won't happen cause you'd need to form thunderclouds which would require a fire style technique like Sasuke did. He needed to shoot fire technique jutsus into the atmosphere to even stir up the clouds. Pulling off kirin requires multiple nature releases and extreme nature transformation expertise

@Ritzuh really, all sasuke would need to do is pull what he did with itachi. spam fire and amaterasu to make thunder clouds. it's not like anyone would even think of ways to counter kirin (like trying to put out his regular fire or keep sasuke from using amaterasu) because he's used it only twice, once on a dead man and the second time alone with naruto. the only other person who knows is orochimaru i guess, but i doubt orochimaru would feel the need to spread around kirin's existence, unless asked, which again, no one's gonna be asking cause no one knows.

@@no-ku6jp Tbh though sasuke had no one to really use kirin on later in the series after that point. He couldn't use it on Bee because bee would just 8 tails chakra cloak defend himself and if his chakra cloak is like naruto's it'd shrug the attack off, since naruto was able to shield himself from the 10 tails attack before he got 6 paths power. He can't use it on Madara either because even regular madara would tank it with his susanoo same as itachi did and Madara has completed susanoo which is even more tanky. Obito with six paths would just shield himself with truth seeking balls since they nullify all chakra natures, it's the same as Itachi's susanoo shield that negates all chakra natures. Kaguya could just flee to another dimension. Danzo would've just spammed izanagi like he did before and evaded death. There was really no opponents Kirin could actually affect at that point

Because Sasuke's a big brain with big catch-ra, he's using the same principle as low level water and earth ninja. He's using the element surrounding him so he doesn't need to use his own energy to turn his chakra into lightning (remember his part 1 chidori limit?) He made Itachi use Amaterasu cuz he knows way more about clouds than I do
