He arguably had a relatable experience (ostensible betrayal by the closest family member on behalf of their respective villages), but had no true knowledge about Sasuke’s reasons nor emotional connection with him, and thus he failed to get through to him. When people like this having their love & life taken away, they will succumb into darkness, like a psycho. honestly naruto has a lot of problems, and alot of shit characterization that id call 'fanservice characterization', but gaara was def not one of them. i feel like gaaras entire character from start to finish was perfection. everything about him. i feel like even though gaara is a secondary character, his role in the lore and atmosphere in naruto in general was pivotal. he is an essential character. tbh gaara is infinitely more useful and important to the show than fucking saukra ever was.
