Gears of war let everyone down in the community so I understand what Nick is saying when shadows still plays and hopes one day gears will make a comeback possibly with gear. 6. But the way gears 5 came out it was dead upon arrival. Even myself still plays Gears 4 for the competitive aspect, but other than that I would never expect to grow on twitch whatsoever. Rather it was for money or fame or anything else. There's nothing there when it comes to gears and streaming combined. Sorry.

He's not wrong in the current climate. If Gears 6 or whatever the next gears turns out to be blows up you, Rawr and Landan will be in prime position to blow up with it. I love that you stay with Gears even in this dry time and appreciate all your work and commitment. Do what makes you happy and you can't fail completely.

Very interesting. I loved making Gears vids, I was never as big as u but did it for the passion. I will say it was demoralizing to see the Gears numbers dwindle over time, even though I felt I was improving as a content creator (just from having learned how to do things better with time). I never felt that same passion for another game and so I stopped. It was never a job or source of income for me. Nor did I want it to be. What I will say Shadowz, is that you have real passion, you are an excellent content creator, good speaker, and nice person from what I’ve seen. I think the key for you is to leverage those skills to crack into the gaming/content industry in the long term through a different game or method - because I do believe that the day will come, when Gears is no longer viable from the perspective of making a sustainable income. It might not be till 2030 for all we know, but I do believe the day will come.

I think a lot of this comes down to the gears community. It's always been one of the strongest communities in gaming. As someone who grew up consuming and playing a lot of gears, to still see creators out there posting content is so cool. I chose my life profession as a video editor because I started editing gears and other gaming content. It means a ton to the people who played this game as a kid. But as far as popularity, wait and see what happens when they drop a movie, show AND a new game. The gears glory days are coming back and you heard it here first.

I’ve been playing Gears of War ever since I was a child but times have changed and recently I’ve been putting my focus to other games but I still love gears of war with a passion and I always will and I have always watched your videos and Some of your streams and even played with you once which was a real blessing but he was speaking real facts but overall I do hope that gears of war keeps growing in many different ways so we can all prosper from it and enjoy it thank you for making such a great work 😎

I do not think a BR in gears would help it grow. I think refining core game modes and mechanics. Along with skins and maps would help revamp gears. But salute to Shadows for continuing to grind gears and showing it nothing but unwavering love and support.

Shadowz I grew up watching you man, im 19 and a sophomore in college now. Ive played every single gears game out from start to finish and just last year I sold my xbox series X because it was interfering with my grades in my freshman semester. I honestly would love to see you move on to bigger and better things man, I dont think you understand how much I would love to see you thrive. I know how dedicated you are and ive been watching you for years man, I would very much like to see you put gears to the side and play bigger games. This doesn't mean put gears down as a whole but I think making it a secondary game instead of your primary game would make a huge change in your career. Sometimes the best thing is to get rid of our hindrances to allow ourselves to grow. I played GoW when it released in 2006. Played competitive for team vVv. I was like 14 years old. Game always has a special place in my heart. I was addicted to Gow 1 and 2 but switched to Cod as well after. And rainbow 6 Vegas

Here's the thing, you two define "success" differently. While I'm sure you're not opposed to the numbers Nick makes, you view yourself as successful because you've been financially supported by your favorite game. That brings out the fullest potential in your passion. Nick thinks success is getting huge numbers which means money which means deals and big opportunities which leads to more money. Nothing wrong with either of your guy's definitions but you guy's are talking about two different things. You both make excellent points and I don't believe either of you are wrong in this. You're living you're dream, which is just different than his. And bro, I've been around you and your channel since I started playing video games in general back in GoW 3. I am beyond proud of what you have achieved and wish I could make it to were you are today. Gears has some of the most passionate people around it and you are tip of that spear. I hope Nick saying your name brings in more people to your channel because you definitely deserve it.

I tried to aswell for gears was getting 5 to 10 people while I was ranked in top ten in tdm and FFA, and in king of the hill for a few seasons. I gave up on streaming, went back to sharing clips on Xbox instead. Played gears since the start, only started streaming in gears 4, most of the clips I deleted over time. I still have halo on my KZbin and a ESO clip. Copyright strikes nonstop for battlefield and starwars so I deleted it all I was MVP almost every game from sniping in battlefield and I'd do crazy rushes that I'd take from watching a movie. Always on battlefield playlist rush, conquest was too slow paced. I never missed a gears in-game event, had a lot of the earnable skins and bought a lot of the weapon packs.

Not at all Ive already achieved my dreams of playing Gears of War for a living as my full time job for the last 8 years paying my bills, getting to travel around the world getting to experience Europe & America because of Gears, being sent out Merchandise & getting early access to new Gears games because of my content. It all comes down to each individual & what their goals & interests are. For me personally it was always to become the biggest Gears of War content creator & the opportunity to do it for a livelihood which were still continuing today on a dead game because of my amazing community we've built over the last 12 years & I can only imagine whats going to happen & how insane it will be as soon as we get the future of Gears of War announced!!! Not everybody wants to be the biggest streamer in the world, I am so happy I get to play Gears of War everyday just like I did as a kid, yet somehow its my job its wild. Context is everything if Nickmercs knew I was a full time Gears of War content creator whose been doing this as a living full time now for 8 years since 2016 he would have probably said it differently.

That’s the difference between other games and gears. People truly love gears. It’s a passion and a love that no other shooter can compete with. Yes it’s a smaller market for sure. We don’t play gears for fame or money. We love this game. I’ve been playing gears since 2007. I play no other shooter. Gears is the only shooter I need. The campaign truly captured me all those years ago. The character Development and gameplay is like no other

About time he said something. . But this is what GEARS needs to know people want the game but we need to get guys like him back. More eyes .. but nick is right have to take risk. . With iut risk their is no reward .. The error he came up in streaming was not as what it is now. Everyone left the game. I completely understand it’s his passion but look at nick .. he was Gears orientated and then he grew on other games as he knew he needed to do that to become successful. Which he now is. I understand both perspectives. Maybe what you should have done is create a second account for other games like shadowz extra or shadowzXgaming and plugged it on your main page to drive views there. Either way when gears 6 comes out you will start to grow again. And Nickmercs will more than likely play it for a few streams also.

I have always thought this. I love you’re content and same with Uber Nick in the Halo scene. You guys deserve soo much more but Microsoft and the devs just don’t do enough. If you would go to another game and pop off I would follow I know you’re passionate about Gears but it’s time to move on if you want to “try” and be successful in content creation.

gears of war, either love, or don't love. Those who love playing in parallel with other games, that's my case. I always play the Gears campaign in a loop (the 10 games, main and DLCs). And I also play other games in parallel, like Forza Motorsport. Anyway, SASxSHADOWZ is a warrior, it's true. If I'm not mistaken, he's British, and I watch him, I'm Brazilian, I live in Brazil. Ultimately, Gears is the best franchise in the world.

More people should stream and play the gears games and I hope that future gears games make a massive breakthrough like Fortnite and COD. i love gears of war and i respect the grind but i can see both sides of this debate. honestly at this point i cant see anyone growing from playing gears. if my goal was to grow as a content creator i would have to move on from gears content. if my goal was to make content on the game i love i would have to accept that i wont have the success that i am hoping for and focus on doing something else as a way to make more money etc and just do gears content as a hobby/passion.

I’ve watched your stream, you’re a normal dude, but whenever you upload a KZbin video this wooden monotone script reading voice comes out. Just be yourself man, loosen up. Not all your videos have to sound like a PSA announcement. As for Gears, sadly the platform is dead. Perhaps it will ramp up again for the next game who knows. I think if the next gears is just another Gow5 with better visuals etc it will only die again just as fast. The franchise needs a hard reset, less of the corny jokes and one dimensional characters. Talking MP, Arena shooters just aren’t what they used to be either. BR is not the answer! BRs are already on their way out the door. The next big thing seems to be extraction shooters but idk how gears would adapt to that. Maybe it could work? But that would require an entire RPG system built into the game. Perhaps a big change like that is what’s needed to truly revive the franchise. Whatever it is big changes need to happen if gears ever hopes to be as big as it was back in its hay day.

Leaving a comment because you asked for opinions at the end of your video. My answer has more than 1 part because it's not just a simple topic. Nick's advice was 100% spot on, he is correct that if you have a dream of being a successful content creator, it's not happening on Gears 5. The game is practically dead, it's on a downward spiral and has been for a long time. It could have been huge with the content creator attention it had at launch, but in typical modern Gears fashion, the launch was terrible, the game was in a terrible state and it lost almost all of it's viewership interest as those big streamers who were essentially trying to advertise the game broadcast to their communities a broken game... G damn G. Then some community influencers lost their motive to promote the game to the remaining players so the community dwindled away. Nick's advice though, it's aimed towards being a successful content creator in general, whereas your goals don't appear to be quite that. You want to be a successful streamer FOR GEARS. I think that you are in desperate need of a solid Gears 6 game from day 1 and maybe your dedication could pay off and maybe it could happen for you! You mention how you've been doing this for a long time, full time, getting paid enough for this to be your job and to live on that. I think that's amazing that you've done that, I think his advice though isn't so much aimed towards making enough for it to be your job, I think his advice is aimed towards you making enough to the point you get your own Ferrari and mansion because that's what big streamers do easily! I think he's looking at the bigger picture in terms of what he'd consider 'success'. But I also see your perspective. Gears isn't just a game to you and I, well... it is, but it isn't... It feels like more. It's what we've grown up on, it's where we've made our friends and the communities we are involved in feel like 2nd families. Moving away from that feels like much more than just changing game. I think that in terms of Gears, you have done a very good job and I think you've accomplished everything available to you for Gears content creation. You can live off the money you make from content, you are always one of the most viewed channels, most of the community knows of you, you've been directly involved with the development team. You've basically earned every achievement 100%. If you are happy knowing that your growth won't happen from Gears 5 but that you have accomplished all of that, then you should totally remain on Gears because I understand that's where your passion is and I know you really enjoy it. But, if ever you decide that you deserve more for your time and effort, you really do need to leave Gears 5 and find something that will reward your dedication.

Shadowz even if you do do your reaction I think Nick is right. Like I can't imagine a small content creator that does the same content every day. Not a creator just a viewer but Gears to me always been about passion and something more. But is it like that if you have a game you grew up with and love. Nick I think is right and I watch his content too. 16 years is a lot and nothing is coming out of it. I been watching you for 7 years. I love your vids but I always say this. Take in a person's advice and see what actually mean. Don't chase a dream live a dream. Earn that right to reach the mountaintop. Be a role model to others. I see how you and Nick have different takes but I think he's right

Nickmercs is right if you want to be a big content creator or a big streamer. If Gears wants to become popular again where everyone loves it again, IMO we have to be patient. We Gears fans have to be patient and let The Coalition take all their time, give them time to make tons of content. Once the community starts putting pressure like "when are we going to see something." Or The Coalition are not doing anything but just sitting on their ass."They lose focus and puts pressure to release a half ass game. Let them create all their content they can make so when Gears 6 is ready it'll be a huge game. The last thing we need to stop is complaining about every little thing. Let the devs make changes if they have to. Yeah we all love the wallbouncing, the balanced weapons, the gnasher, the lancer, all the traditional weapons all the Gears weapons from the past. If they need to make some changes, then we need to suck it up and evolutionized with it. I don't mean where they change Gears to a totally different game. I mean where the Gears mechanics are still there but also take bit and pieces of games like CoD, Apex, Fortnite, even Valorant. I know a lot of us don't want the changes but if we want Gears to be popular and bigger than ever it needs to change a bit. I've noticed communities from different games when they start bashing the game, the game dies quicker. Look at Halo Infinite, the community complains and bashes it and creates a toxic community; nobody wants to be a part of. Lets just be patient, let them take their time to make a ton of content and I think Gears 6 will succeed. I don't think they need a battle royale game. Although it'll be cool if they add a mode similar to one.

Its hard to hear, but... he's right, i dont see Gears of War growing anywhere. And lets be brutally honest, Gears of Wars isnt as good at it was 10 years ago, so what future does Gears of War have for content creation? Waiting for Gears of War becoming great again is to expect that the next Gears of War could be as "revolutionary" as Doom 2016 was to Doom/ID Software, and to be honest, i dont see that happening, and i know im not alone in this.
