Just a little bit puzzled after trying a prep SAT at Khan for fun (English isn’t my first language, never lived in an English speaking country, never studied math in English, never preped for any standardised Test, not answered all math questions, did it in the middle of the night) and got an result which was above average. Are US standards so much lower than Europeans? Are 50% doing this test without any prep? Is there no prep in school?

What was your score
@lisal57185 жыл бұрын
Not great, something around 1200. Just shocked that this is better than 60% of US test takers. Planning to do some of the Khan prep for fun and then try again. I definitely have to much time 😂
@4pfwalster5 жыл бұрын
@@lisal5718 That score is still a good amount below average for many schools. The average score is inaccurate;in some states/counties the test is free and mandatory.
@lisal57185 жыл бұрын
Walster Even if 10-20% don’t care at all about their scores (like I did last night). It is still pretty shocking for me. Maybe it’s showing that the variety of learning outcomes is extremely broad in the US. Because I am very aware of the fact that there is a big difference in my reading speed (first language vs. English) and never was good in English during school year 5 - 8 (main focus grammar). So it’s just hard for me to guess what happened to these children in school and how easy it has to be for somebody who can read in English as fast as I can read in my first language.
