Awesome video Mr Pete! I went looking for more info on this gun and immediately looked to see if you had done a video on it. I didn’t even know about the CC setup. Sata has always been notorious for their “generous” nozzle sizing lol, It’s odd that they would actually make a set smaller than the stated size🤔. Well done as always my friend, the tank looks fantastic!💪🏻👍🏻
@peteshobbies53834 ай бұрын
Hi Mate, yes, normally Sata are over size but on this it's undersized by a big margin, I'm guessing that's in part how it gives a flat finish, a lot of setups perform better in the small sizes, all other things being equal of course, cheers mate 👍
@davidparker96767 ай бұрын
This was an excellent video Pete, I love that you measured the cap and fluid tip orifices to give us the real info without the marketing spin. I have been on the fence trying to decide if I should get a nozzle set in the 1.3cc or just get the RP 1.3. This was a huge eye opener! What a counter intuitive bit of info that the tip is smaller than the 1.2. I have the 1.2 RP and a few sizes of the HVLP on my SATA 5000B, I was wondering if there was much difference between the 1.3 RP an the 1.3 CC... I now imagine the differences must be huge. Thanks again for making this video, this is the honest and ultra informative content that is desperately lacking from elsewhere on the internet. Cheers M8!
@peteshobbies53837 ай бұрын
Hi David, As soon as I got the tip set I could see the exit hole was quite small for a 1.3, so I ordered a good quality tapered hole gauge just so I knew what the size was, turns out it 0.2mm smaller than a 1.3 RP which is in fact 1.35mm. This would explain why everyone that I had talked to all said it was a slow gun. Now I have to gauge. I can check the air holes on things like the Iwatas, where they have differing diameter holes around the tip. Good to hear you liked the video, mate. I really enjoy looking at why something is different rather than just saying it is. Cheers 👍

Hi Grant, Thanks, mate, I hadn't looked at the MM2 TDS but a few people were saying to me it's not recommended to add thinners, but, as you say, it's not a problem to add a little. I was fully expecting to be underwhelmed by the CC setup, but armed with lots of tips and information from our viewers I took to it straight away, and I am definitely impressed 😀, shame they cost an arm and a leg😂, cheers mate, 👍

Hi Tim, to a degree, yes, although the Sata will definitely give a higher build, of course, it obviously also depends on the clear coat that's used as well , thanks mate, much appreciated 👍

Hi Mate, it certainly does do a good job, I was really skeptical about the claims Sata made, but once you know how to adapt from the standard version, it works a treat.
@Jbpipesandmufflers7 ай бұрын
Yeah i feel the same about that pete. Chocking the fluid gives me less finish allso. With the thin base coats i find it better to choke the air. Especialy waterbased.. but clear is more thick. And indeed. For some reason. 1.2 tip flat out. Performs better tjen 1.3 choked..
@peteshobbies53837 ай бұрын
Hi Jeffrey, I wasn't sure if it was just me, but obviously not, if you find it as well. When you think about it, there would be no point in manufacturers making so many different sizes of tip if choking it back was ideal. Cheers, mate. I appreciate it 👍
@JohnWD40TC027 ай бұрын
Hi Pete, well what can you say about that apart from it's a beautiful flat superb glassy finish from the 1.3CC setup once you get the hang of it and change your painting style then you won't regret buying this setup👌love the colour on this tank mate and those decals look amazing plus the reflection from the black squares look like a mirror using the CC setup👏👏💪 The problem I had with it was I didn't get any help or advice about using it so it was a frustrating process getting to grips with it, you may remember me getting the dry spray on my panels but after a few uses it slowly came together then the finishes I was getting were amazing, as you said in the video if you pay the full price for it which I did you won't regret it which I don't IMO this gun puts out as good or maybe better a better finish than my WS400 Series 2 clearcoat gun🤔 Cheers Pete👍
@peteshobbies53837 ай бұрын
Hi John, When you got your setup, I was really sceptical about it, as you may remember. I got information from you and 4 or 5 others about going through a similar process to you, so by the time I had found a tip set I pretty much had it all ready to go as to settings and the like. It's certainly a good finish, as you say, as good as any I can think of, not for everyone, though, as it's very slow, but it is only a 1.1 in reality so you can't expect much, Cheers buddy 👍
@JohnWD40TC027 ай бұрын
Yeah I remember you saying you weren't very hopeful that it would be any better than the 1.3i version which wasn't helped with all the problems I had with it but now I wouldn't be without it👌 Have you tried the CC aircap with the 1.2-1.3 tip mate I'm wondering if it would give the same finish and be a bit faster or maybe the bigger tip would be to much for the aircap design🤔🤷♂👍

Hi Jimmy, It's silly money when you think about it, I can buy a very, very good Porphis gun for less than a Sata tip set, Sata must be laughing all the way to the bank!. A custom micron is on my shopping list, so I'll be joining you soon 😃, I'm slowly building up my airbrush collection so I will do a few reviews and comparisons when I get to where I want to be. I have absolutely no artistic talents so I am wasted on the good airbrushs, but I can tell the difference between the good and not so good, the atomisation and control given by the better brushes is quite evident even for me 😂 , cheers mate, I appreciate it 👍

Great video Pete! I've been waiting for your review on this one far a while now. I've also wondered if winding the fluid down on a 1.3 gun would give same result as a 1.2 with full fluid 🤔🤔. My theory is if whether the air hole surrounding the fluid tip is bigger on the 1.3, Hence atomising differently that a 1.2 with a smaller air hole. But then again being a bigger hole on the 1.3 with winded down fluid should atomise better and give a better finish that a 1.2 with full fluid. So it's confusing 😊
@peteshobbies53837 ай бұрын
Hi buddy, I'm glad you're enjoying the videos. The air holes around the fluid tip hole are the same size, so it's purely the centre hole in the tip that's different

@peteshobbies53836 ай бұрын
Hi mate, The Sata CC produces a flatter finish, but generally, for wheels, I think you would be better off with the Minijet. The difference is only minimal, so the manouverablity of the smaller lighter gun outweighs any advantage imo, cheers 👍

@peteshobbies538319 күн бұрын
Hi Harold, No, it tops the standard RP or HVLP Sata X5500 but not the Porphis or WS400 Series 2 clear gun, it probably as good but not better, the Porphis is much easier to use though as its extremely forgiving about pressure, distance and quality of materials. The DV1S is also excellent, but in a different game as its output is much less. It's more competing with the LPH80 than the bigger guns , cheers, buddy 👍

Hi Pete! How is the air consumption with this cc kit? Is like they stated " 290l / minute" or is higher? Do you think it will work with a 200l tank air compressor with 320l/minute output for painting a complete side of a car?
@peteshobbies53837 ай бұрын
Hi buddy, I would guess it's around 13cfm, so 365ltm. It's definitely more than the standard RP version, but not at 420ltm that the HVLP gun is. With the output you have and a full air tank, I think you would do a side of a car at 2 bar
