Exact same feelings when I had mine, they said they’d fixed the fan and it was out the box set up. Plugged it in, completely nothing in the middle of the fan. However that split tip will break up the thickest of clear unlike any other gun, I never knew you could hate and love it at the same time 😂 I think it’s patented but we just need devilbiss and Sata to bring out their versions of a split fluid tip and we’ll be seeing some killer guns in the future

Hi Gunny, it's down to the way you fit the split tip you have to get 2 of the cut outs in the tip perfectly lined up to the airhorn or it wont spray properly, I have the digital version and it sprays perfectly at full fan. It's also mentioned in the user manual if you have it. You might need to tighten the tip up really tight to get them to line up but once you do it transforms the gun, I absolutely love mine👍John UK

Yeah it's exactly the same and it sprays the same, it has a removable digital pressure gauge that fits in the handle👍

Exactly two turns open the torch and the pressure is at least 2.4 and you will see what a miracle is happening. But you have to move quickly.

@ 6:49 timestamp. Your nozzle is incorrectly lined up so no wonder you having issues with the fan. Crank that nozzle and line it up properly and I guarantee that will fix the issue. I have series 1 ws and ls 400 initially had same issues as u do then I lined up the nozzle correctly and now they both spray with full open fan. I got a series 2 digital on the way next week and before I put paint thru it the first thing I will make sure is to check the nozzle for alignment.

I have the iwata supernova series 2 in a digital 1.3 . I spray the sikkens HS plus clear and set up the gun wide open . Works perfect out of the box and it is nice and fast like my sata . The gun sprays thicker clear effortlessly . Love this gun

I've been using the ws 400 mk2 clear and water over the past 12 months and I love them. I set the to full fluid and full fan 2 bar and never had a problem. I work in a small shop painting 40 plus jobs week in week out. I also own a set of DV1s and Sata 5500x base and clear and the iwata guns are my most used out of the three sets.. Love my Bellaria at home. My LPH400 is good too but more finicky. Gotta play with the fan a bit and the air cap has to be clocked to the side a little for it to spray straight. Maybe something is wrong with it. I tried the silver cap on my tulip w400 and it sprays straight. My Bellaria just works. Full fan is nice big and even. Sprays glass easily

The nozzle has to be in a specific way to work properly. Iron cross set. Series one or two it doesn't matter if you overtighten it you ruin the fan because the nozzle will be off set. Some guns come with good nozzles set some dont

I would go LPH400 LVX. I 800 my blend areas and when I’m done I’ve got the factory peel the gun just does the job on my behalf. The only reason gunman never covered the lvx version is because rightfully people suspected a gimmick or assumed it was like the regular lph400

Mine works fine with the fan and fluid set wide open but i much prefer the 1.5hd setup it proper speeds the gun up but still lays it out nice

In Sata gun review you said that the water baorn system you well get less gloss in 3 stage color And you can fix it on solvent system And when you do video compression on water and solvent system one of points you said that the water system we’ll keep the gloss longer than the solvent system

I also have only positive experience with ws400 and with 1.2HD tip!!! Digital version and maaaan i love it. It atomizes thick clear with eazy and speed is good too. I went and bought it and im a SATA guy for over 10years.

I have a series 2 and it is full fan, full fluid. Make sure the fluid tip is properly aligned

This is funny hearing you say the supernova is finicky. I used it for about a year with good results but I live in New England USA and the weather suddenly changed from 80f daily to 60f and couldn’t get my finish right. Either too dry or runs no matter the hardener and reducer. Then i decided to use one of my 5500 Rp base guns and realized what my problem was.

Hey, im in NE as well, most of my jobs are race or show car parts and bikes in the offseason so the temp is usually pretty low like 60’s in my Basement with the heat going on a good day. Which clear coat are you using? High solid and medium solid are very difficult in these conditions.

The factory yt video-s discussing several improvements for the series 2 actually mentions a re engineered air pressure gauge as even the factory supplied gauge was not accurate.. I have a series 1 and its a beautiful gun that sprays perfectly. I will pickup a 2 because I dont want to keep re tuning the gun when I switch caps and shoot from base to clear and back.

I'll give you my personal setup. With That Sr2 gun, I set it up fan 2 turns, full open material and 35 psi, using a clear coat hs, at a maximum distance of 5 inches, and I get crystal results. It's my favorite pistol

Same way I setup my series 1. way to go. I use the 1.5 tip. With this setup the gun is pretty fast with a big fan a very good atomization. Fan is solid

I've got both guns 1 and 2 bpth sat on their stands and hardly pick them up.My go to guns are the Fuji also just aquired 3 Sata jets 5500x i and o plus a 1500b hopefully they turn out to be an investment . Thanks for the honest review 👍. jim uk

I got lucky with my ws400 series 1. It has a good pattern, I do use it with the fan turned in 2 turns but it works good wide open. I have tried most guns out there except the series 2. I switch between a dv1, sagola, sata 5000 and ws400 for clear. Other painter has walcoms, demoed sata 5500. Knowing the iwatas have issues will likely never buy another.

Finicky. Either glass or cross hatch peel. I go back and forth sagola or 5500. Both are super.

Love my Bellaria. Easy to use. Works very good at full fan. Nice big and even pattern. Just set the fluid and pressure to get the finish you want. Doesnt use a ton of air

Gunny I implore you watch the official Iwata video on the gun, on their official channel of course . They’re trying to do an O and I pattern. There’s at least 4 types of those supernovas if I’m not mistaken and that’s leaving the digital handle option out of it. I’m not following it I’m just going to buy more LPH400s I wish you would review the Meiji guns. Good stuff as usual stay safe out there.

Ive been waiting at least a year to see if i can get one in the US. No luck yet. I have a series 1- the fan thing is weird have to narrow it way down. I think they also machined the threads on series 2 so that the split tip/tulips lines up in the same spot everytime. Even with the quirks I still get the best results with it. Looking forward to trying a s2 and see if its any different. Thanks for the review 👍👍👍

I went from the sata rp then i fell in love with the supernova, i use the i.4 for clear and its amazing but yes you definitely have to tune it to your style of painting, its a really fast gun u have to have the right speed and my overlap is usually like a 75 but with this gun it has to be 50 😅😂

Bought the ws and ls series 2, sold them within 2 weeks. First job the fan was all over the place and caused me issues. Couldn't get them set up well whatsoever.

I use Iwata Series 2 Digital almost a year. Started with 1.3 HD but it's too heavy with clear(Sikkens Autoclear 2.0 and Sikkens Airdry) and I switched to 1.2 HD. I use it full fan and one turn fluid in,2.0 Bars. I can send you a video if you want. I'm big fan and I'm waiting for your rewiew 😁

gunny iwatta says out off the box experience full fan full fulid 2 bar i think the sagola 4600 extream aqua cap is a better gun and cheaper and gunny you can change the air caps to HVLP

Tbh looks like you have a faulty series 2.. the split tip on the series 2 is now meant to line up with the horns completely straight. They've changed it so that everytime it's tightened it will line up. Yours in a couple shots look misaligned so it wouldn't spray any different than the series 1. I'm currently in Oz as well, my series 1 tip is always lined up with the horns and the fan is full no split no matter where the setup is.

Yeah spot on, I live in the UK and have the digital series 2 and if you tighten the tip down hard then the split tip lines up with the air horn which gives you a perfect fan at full fan, I've also commented above. John UK

Any wbx at 2 bar sprays most similar to the ws400 in the iwata range. The Meiji finer core is the direct competitor to the supernova in Japan and has extremely fine atomization with no difficult set up.

I was told by a ppg course director that the guns need specific licensing to be sold in certain areas. And also i was told the "proper" settings are full fan full fluid. Personally this is how i spay my series 1 i just get a little closer to the panel move fast and smash it on 👌🏼

Love your videos you are what led me to buy my ProLite . I have a question what set up do you recommend, I was thinking 1.3 fluid and T110 cap around 25- 29 PSI. The clear I’ll be using is the Acme FC720 any help you can share would be greatly appreciated!

Id say it depends if you're looking FLAT jobs or oem peel. I use the 1.3 with T110 and if I'm wanting flat peel i go around 29-32psi 2.0bar - 2.2bar, but if you want real custom flat peel I'd throw the 1.2 into it and at 2.2bar👍

Siemanko panowie też mam sr2 i nadal bawię się z ustawieniami ,czytam dużo momentarzy i dochodzę do wniosku że część sr2 zostało wyprodukowane wadliwie , ogólnie iwata stare modele łatwo się nimi lakieruje a ten sr2 już trzeba się bawić....
