In Satan's Slaves Communion, we pick up a few years after the events of the first film, we follow Rini and the rest of her family living in a strange high rise apartment building. Things go awry when a huge storm hits, but its the cult and evil non human entities that are out for them. The story gets even bigger in this sequel, broadening the scope as well as the mysteries. We're breaking it all down including the ending that hints at where the story can continue.

my theory on why Rini was planned to be spared, is either to actually become a breeding female, so that Raminom can either procreate OR for Raminon to possess a girl instead of a boy (since Ian is a boy and Raminom is feminine fronting)

It's funny you say that. When I worked at Walmart as a teen and then at a manufacturing plant in my early twenties, I had supervisors constantly hounding me to do more with my life and go to school so I didn't get stuck like them. Hell, at Walmart they apparently have a program where they'll help you pay for a 4-year business degree to get you into upper management, and my supervisor gave me a whole plan on how to use that assistance to finagle whatever degree I wanted either instead of or alongside the business degree. So it is realistic, just not the norm. Obviously I got very lucky a couple times to work under some people who actually gave a fuck. I just wish I'd taken their advice and actually made something of myself.

7:40 it's common for residents in southeast asian countries to keep the door open. the apartment buildings are designed to facilitate air circulation. not all apartment units have air conditioning and there are lots of windy days where the air can rush in thru the door and cool the units. usually there is a gate installed right infront of the door so it's not fully open. but yeah btw pocong is pronounced as poh-chong. as in cheech and chong lol. not kong

I remember watching this movie in an IMAX theater in Indonesia (Satan Slaves 2 was the first Indonesian movie to get an IMAX release) and oh lord the elevator scene was pretty shocking that most people in my theater were panicking that the kids under the elevator should get out from there immediately. I watched this movie on an empty cinema with my siblings, we went into it all high and mighty but got silenced when the scene of the floating shot around the apartment building with the closing song of the TV broadcast. More terrifying to me as I grew up listening to that song when the TV programmes ended for the day and remember that I would race my dad up the stairs while he scares me with what might lurk in the dark. I think that scene was one that made me realise how important it is to create movies based on your culture and country's history. I would have never experienced that kind of creepy, ominous intensity watching any other country's horror! Ugh, such a great scene.

Tbh Rini is probably an inheritor of some sort; (of Raminom's power? Or to be a vessel?) her mother losing popularity could have been something to manipulate her into having a deep seated wish like her mother did. (to be famous or w/e) The cult is probably trying to get her to *want* a future she will give up everything for. Hence the factory boss getting her a scholarship and her demonbro giving her a fantasy about what she could have.

@@baintreachas I agree, I probably have some biases towards foreign movie because. The thing I love most about horror movies is the legend and the folklore behind it and since most American horror movies are just retelling the same tropes naturally I am more interested on foreign horrors because they're telling folklore and legends which are completely new to me. But aside from that these movies are also just really good in general I mean just compare "When evil lurks" a south America horror movie To ANY horror movies that came out of Hollywood in the last 2-3 years it's not even close. And I am well aware too that there must be a lot of foreign stinkers out there if I dig deep enough.

I realise there is a trend with the first few victims of the movie: Wina, Tari and Dino all COULD have been killed in the lift accident, yet they survived. And all of them ultimately were killed in a way that was personalized for them. Dino with the fork in his neck, Wina falling down the empty lift shaft, and Tari not only dying in a crammed space like the lift, but also being able to foresee her death earlier. Looking back at it now, it feels similar to the trend from the Final Destination franchise, and now I wonder if Raminom or anyone in the cult have an ability to make death chase after those who escape it. Doesn't help that Bhari was also killed despite surviving the accident, and had Budiman not intervened, Toni could have been killed by the cult after narrowly escaping the accident too.

Maybe you should do also the original Satan's Slave (Indonesian: Pengabdi Setan) from 1980 and compare it to remake from 2017?

love love love your vids! Just wanted to let you know that the indonesian c is pronounced like the american "ch" sound. I know that the Indonesian horror scene has been releasing some bangers, I hope you cover more!

Maybe the horror genre isn't dead. Just that Western horror movies suck. I absolutely love the aesthetic of this whole film. It feels so grimy and lifeless. It really gives you a sense of unease and paranoia.
