Notes that encouraged me greatly from this sermon: 1) The devil is alive and a liar 2) Satan will distract us with wants and desires-this is the gateway. We’ll never have “enough” things 3) Satan chooses his timing to attack during our vulnerable times (hungry, angry, lonely or tired) “HALT” and recognize the attack 4) Satan will try to create doubt to the point we rationalize our sin (even using scripture out of context to develop a stronghold). 5) “thou shalt not’s” not “thou should nots”-It is a black and white interpretation of scripture, the 10 commandments are for our protection and benefit, it is not withholding. 6) have passages stored in your heart to serve as a compass in your life 7) The Word is not outdated. It brings harmony, truth, peace, and faith. 8) Happiness comes and goes, the fruit of the Spirit stays. 9) Doubting the Word of God will lead to sin, every time. We cannot pick and chose, even if we can’t fully explain things. 10) What principles are we living by? What ideas? What motivations? If it is not The Word of God, it is meaningless. 11) What will we die by? We will have to answer to The Judge. Will we believe in the Word of God enough to live it out Praise God!

I got saved in Alabama and was going to love to SD but the pandemic hit so I ended up in Arizona at my sisters. While at my friends house this evening Satan started to steal my joy. Making me think my life is less than my friends. I have been through so much this year. A broken heart, gave up my home and almost everything in it go get married and then again it didn't work out, had eye surgery then very recently ACL and meniscus surgery. Through all that I have kept my joy praising him in the valley, but tonight Satan almost had me believing the lies he was putting in my mind. I am trying to learn how to access the fruits of God's spirit which include joy, peace, kindness, faithfulness, patience and self control so I can be happy and pleasant, no matter what the circumstances are. I'm learning how to praise God in my suffering. Slowly my attitude is changing for the better. It all starts with the mind. I listen to sermons like this with earbuds while I'm working when I feel particularly horrible and count through all the blessing I have. I'm praying for you as I work with patients with dementia in a nursing home and know how challenging it can be.

Dear caregiver; I was a caregiver for my mom for 10 yrs. & experienced the same thing you describe. Know that this is not a sign you are a bad person, but it is a signal that you need respite & help. Somehow, get help from your local health services & pray God will connect you to the right individual who will empathize with you & take the reins to provide you some relief. Don't be too hard on yourself as you continue to lean on the Lord!
