I just created a tabletop roleplaying game called cards and cobolds. I first created the 1E version which didnt have much in it, but i then decided to create second edition. It is inspired by all fantasy books, sci-fi books, history books, and the Bible. You can play as a fantasy character, scifi character, and even a biblically accurate character. There are many realms to explore like the land of oz, the world of the Bible, the lord of the rings, dungeons and dragons, and so much more. I didnt make this game to blaspheme anything or to steal from the original creators according to copyright law, but DO however want to publish this game just for fun. It is a very cool game, and i trying to make it so that people of all religions and cultures can play it. It is very cool.

Such a great vid! Thanks for touching on the supremacy aspect. This season, Jason was honestly scarier to me than Vecna because I see people like him, his rhetoric, privilege, lack of empathy, etc all the time. Vecna is purely fictional but Jasons are everywhere.

i feel like this season was what you were talking about with horror-the villain is vecna, but vecna is a way to explore christanity and guilt and ostracizing people. so well done! loved the video!

This was a great video! As an atheist, I really appreciate it when I see Christians not being afraid to call out some of the problematic elements of religion, especially fundamentalism. Though I had a different take on why the writers had Lucas be the one to confront Jason at the end. He was the only main character to have been friends with him. Initially, he'd abandoned his nerdy D&D friends to join the basketball team because he craved acceptance & popularity. But then he saw Jason using his status & privilege to persecute outsiders & was horrified. He tells Jason "I thought I wanted to be like you. Popular. Normal. But it turns out, normal's just a raging psychopath." I saw it as the conclusion of Lucas' season 4 arc. He'd realized the guy he'd admired & almost sold out his friends for was a complete monster & that confrontation gave him the chance to tell him so. Anyways that's just how I saw it. I loved how this season really went out of it's way to criticize the "Moral Majority" types that fueled the Satanic Panic. I'm glad people are noticing & talking about it!

I'm glad I'm not the only one who saw and felt the white supremacy wafting off those jocks and that scenes with Lucas and Erica felt especially scary. Even Lucas dating Max and them being separated as Lucas is held at gunpoint felt like something that was both unnecessary, but also something that could have been a major part of the plot with how race plays into Christian nationalism

I am old enough to have lived through the Satanic Panic. The portrayal was not far off and was accurate enough to be pretty triggering. This season was very hard for me to watch.

I don't know if I believe in the Devil, but Vecna reminds me a lot of C.S. Lewis' description of him in The Screwtape Letters - dividing and corrupting humans to turn them into his power source until he's the only thing left. "Our war aim is a world in which Our Father Below has drawn all other beings into himself."

Oh hey, the one Christian whose content about religion I like is back! Your videos are always fun. There is something I'm curious about. Is there a way to contact you personally through something like email or (preferably) a chat app like Discord? As an atheist, I've been very interested in asking a devout religious individual - especially a progressive one - specifics about what they believe and why. Meta-ethics, theology, all that good stuff. And, well, that's kind of your whole jam, isn't it? I'd love to pick your brain on the subject sometime.

So I was mostly listening to this video while cooking and had to back up the video when you mentioned Satanic Panic "memoirs" that have since been debunked because I remembered my mom saying when she was a young adult she read a book called The Satan Seller and found it terrifying. So I looked up Mike Warnke's name on Google and Wikipedia and sure enough, he is the author of that book. Also oddly, per Wikipedia, he was born in Indiana, the same state where Stranger Things is set.

Honestly, I appreciated how ST portrayed racism throughout the seasons. They showed how bad it was in the 80s, but the Duffer brothers countered it with the friend group and even the parents of the friends. They didn’t care that their kids had black friends. To them, they were all alike. You also have Max and Lucas as boyfriend/girlfriend. Of course, you have the bullies in season one and now Jason and buddies in season four to add drama. That drama accurately portrays how bad racism was then. I thought it was tastefully done, but I’m no expert! Lol Also, I’m a Christian and a huge fan of Stranger Things. I’ve had people tell me it’s demonic, but I just can’t see it. Maybe I’m blind? I doubt it. So thanks for discussing the overreacting of this show!

Also yay! I've been wondering if you'd ever talk about satanic panic. 👉👈 I've been getting more into a satanic themed band and also supporting the satanic temple for political reasons 😬. So I have a personal investment eee.

The Satanic Panic would pop again in the 1990s when Doom was accused of promoting violence and Satanism. Pokemon would be accused of Satanism as well. It would pop again in 2001 when Harry Potter became very popular. They would accuse the series of books of promoting witchcraft, the occult and a gay agenda. There have been many moral panics aside the Satanic Panic. Such as the Red Scare in the 1950s, and currently panics like the CRT (critical race theory) panic, the woke panic, and the gender panic.
