I would have watched this earlier but I had a final on the day you put the video out. I'm glad you like it! Pretty good for a first release, especially considering I was fresh out of high school eh? Absolutely flattered that you like the handle as much as you do, I was worried that people wouldn't like it. The instructions took a lot of time to get right and it paid off. Everyone loves them, especially children! I remember watching Marshmallow Thunder where that very Skewer came to a very sticky, sugary end... very ironic. The model featured in this video is an older fileset; the latest version has a longer gap between the T-pull and the back of the blaster so you won't smash your knuckles into the rear every time you push forward and the screws retaining the trigger pin are hidden. Can't wait to see your personal build!

I would not recommend this blaster for indoor use with the setup shown in this video. Despite the easy prime (I watched a 6 year old prime my personal Skewer and it has an SF25-TC just like in the video) the blaster punches well above what I'd consider a safe limit for indoor engagement ranges. You can and will leave welts or damage drywall at this level of power at close range. My suggestion would be to set up a Skewer with a loose-fit barrel between 6-8 inches and a K31. If you are buying a kit from Silverfox Industries, request .527" aluminum and Talon Claw-length K31. This should put you within a safe power bracket.

Cool blaster, altough when I hear the I can't help myself but to think in the other "Skewer", the one from Halo Infinite that shoots a giant spike and kills an enemy in one lucky shot. I guess maybe "Skewer" is a cool name for a blaster and a brutal , giant and pretty cool alien weapon.

I'm curious how it would work with a shortened barrel and make it more of a sidearm. I feel like a T-Pull is a bit more awkward on a primary.
@taffy48012 жыл бұрын
The blaster was originally intended to be a sidearm but had so much plunger volume that everything kept fishtailing with a barrel shorter than 6 inches. Turns out I created a hand cannon instead by accident. Oops... As a primary, it's not as front-heavy as a Talon Claw so you get the ability to hold the blaster more like a pistol and move around with it in ways that you can't with other offerings. It's not as agile as a Zinc, but it's more flexible than a Caliburn for example while still hitting just as hard. Combine that with an easy prime and you have a good loadout for somebody who's really good at running. Everybody in my local group knows I'm a hyperactive teleporting gremlin that can snipe you when you aren't looking, it's an experience.

@@taffy4801 It's really cool to learn your design process. It is such a deviously simple and effective design. As someone who spent the bulk of his HvZ career using blowpipes as a primary, I can totally get the appeal of being able to fire off some high powered single shots even if I don't really play the speedy lifestyle #GoSlowTaco

I digress, printed parts are stronger than most people give credit to. Injection molding will always be more durable but a properly printed part will be plenty strong. My personal Skewer has been dropped and smacked against cover several times. It's a bit scuffed, but nothing has broken and I've gotten hundreds of tags with it.
