In this video we're sanding the spray filler on the Talbot Sunbeam LOTUS. We thought we'd try our hands at an ASMR video so you'll see Lewis go through the stages of sculpting out the body shape on the Talbot. You'll see how we achieve those crisp swage lines and knife edge straight panels. There's no talking in this one...just the sounds of the blocking down!
Equipment list:
RUPES long bed Pneumatic sander - amzn.to/3FOXV3E
Mirka Iridium long strips - available from Independent Paint Supplies Swansea
Dura-Blocks Hook and Loop Set - amzn.to/3LUD9BV
Bulletproof Blocks by Whiteland Restorations...... Coming soon!
Q1 Masking Tape - amzn.to/3LZBB9M

Absolutely fantastic prep work Lewis, particularly liked the attention to detail on the bonnet lines and wheel archs, most people don't realise the amount of time that goes into proper preparation 👌

Good to see someone else use a decent sized block to block panels only way to get them flat and u need that especially on a black car

As I watched 20 minutes of Lewis sanding in silence, I realised that if you put out a video of the paint drying I’d probably watch it! I really need to get a life! But then, I do enjoy your videos!

@WhitelandRestorations this is one of the best ASMR videos that I've ever seen.. and I would binge(sleep)watch an entire playlist if you had it! I was just talking to someone who absolutely loathes the sound of sanding, but we both found it fascinating that there's an entire genre of YT videos that cater to the preferences of people's auditory stimulation 😅 But for people like me, sanding and shop sounds are pinnacle, and I don't think I'm alone.. I loved the video and hope you have the opportunity to make another at some point! Thanks so much! -Lauren

I can very much imagine this video style is Lewis's happy place, especially if they're forgetting there's a camera as well... totally centred on the work, focus, attention, care, precision. But my...all that primer dust in the booth! I guess it's to avoid any contam from the workshop, silicon etc etc...but my how do you get all that dust out later? and from the filters? My OCD is twitching.
@WhitelandRestorations
@WhitelandRestorations 2 жыл бұрын
Totally right Tim, Lewis in the zone! The primer dust gets hoovered up into dust bags. Lewis actually just spent the whole of Saturday cleaning the booth down ready for a painting session. The whole room gets cleaned out top to bottom, washed and jetted off. It works for us and keeps the contaminates out like you say. Silicone products are banned in this workshop 😁👍

I would love to learn how to do this.. there's a rusted out Mach 1 in someone's junk yard not far from where I live (can't tell the year because the front grill has been modified and I haven't gotten close enough to look at the lettering..) BUT, how awesome would it be to be able to restore that pile into a head-turning beauty with restoration skills like these in yer back pocket?! Too cool..
