VW didn't sort out the rust issues til the T4 but my favourite one is the T2. You can still get loads of parts for them too.

I have a 1988 244 DL. I really like what you did with your headliner. Thank you for the inspiration. How much of a gap is there between the headliner and the roof at the widest point, and where is this point located? The reason I ask is, I once owned an FJ cruiser, it had tweeters mounted on the back side of the headliner. You could not see them, but you sure could hear them. It gave a whole new experience to music.. I would like to use the same setup on the Volvo if possible. I'm all ears to any ideas you throw my way. And please throw any ideas regarding speakers on the dashboard and on the rear interior sail panels etc.... I'm open to fabrication and modification. I would like to thank you both for thinking outside the box and using your MacGyvering skills to inspire others to step outside their comfort zone.

Going from the spark plug, to wires, cap/rotor, to the coil's ohms and such.. did you check the ignition module? Its by the battery. I didnt see anyone mention it. Of course check that 25A main fuse by the battery. I'm sure its fixed by now, but for anyone else digging for alternate causes.. Thanks for the video.

So that's what that colour red looks like when all the panels are the same colour. My Dad's Mk2 transit was the same colour, at least the front end was. The rest of the panels were more of a matte pink but the front end got a respray at some point and faded differently.

Brings back memories from my childhood, family had a split screen barn door camper, then a T2 low light then the T2 high light. Then I went water cooled with the T25. Nice

Fabulous to see you start this project. I've just bought one exactly like this - 1979 in Blue too, my kids are in love with it already. I'll be stripping mine down in my garage at home, hopefully it's not as bad as this one 😂 I'll be doing an intro video on my channel in a couple of weeks' time 👍🏻 P.s. I'll enter your raffle too - will be lovely to have you do the job!! 🤞🏻

Sorry I'm late to the party, guys! Looking forward to this one & I'm sure it will be THE straightest one on the planet... they're usually wobbly along the sides after restoration! Cheers. Leigh.

It's surprising how popular these vans are, but even more surprising is the amount of rot they have. Having said that they are over 40 years old now, keep up the great work, really looking forward to this one.

New project! A friend of mine is restoring a T2 (home comer from California) with sun roof (!) since about 7 years. Every time I ask I get the same answer: ready for the paint shop. I hope you are a little bit faster… Thanks for the video, I’ll stay curious. See you soon »»» Martin 🚗💨🇫🇷

I always wanted either one of these (earlier model) or a Bug, growing up. Looking forward to the "revival". Was going to ask if you have estimated the hours it will take? Until you strip it back, and are able to find all the hidden stuff (rust, previous repairs), its probably a lottery.

Makes me miss my T2, which had lived in Western Australia most of its life and had almost no rust in it. Sadly sold off cheap before the prices went silly on them as it had a very sick motor and I had no money 😞.

That's pretty solid for a bay window! When I cut the front panel off mine I spent quite a while welding up the inner panels as where it had been leaking over the years it was rotting from the inside out! Check the underside of that cab door too, it will probably be rusty!

Beautiful! I am more of a Mk1 man, but still LOVE the Mk2 immensely. Best cars ever made imho. I did own a 2.1 Pinto powered (170bhp) genuine Mk2 Mexico. Only sadness was I was 19 and could only afford the £2500 a year insurance (in 1997) for one year. Bloody quick....bloody good fun. I always loved the F.O.R.D grille better than the blue oval too. Great job chaps! (Yes I mean both of you... I mean it as a term of indirement, nothing disrespectful).
