Hospitals don't let you leave even if you admit yourself. They just force you to stay against your will. The only way I got out years ago was by lying about getting better because they actually made my issues worse.

They legally cant force you to stay if you’re 18+. Unless, are you talking about a mental hospital? Or a rehab center? Those i don’t know as much. But for the hospital in the story. Yeah. They cant force you to stay.

@@karmaticwolf6026 I mean I call it the mental ward/loony den as far as where I went but yeah i voluntarily went to the psych ward hoping it would keep me safe and stable as I was recovering from a particularly bad suicide attempt, but my partner has went in for surgery before in the past (broken ribs and some pretty messed up organs from falling off a bridge trying to balance on the edge like a dumbass 🙄) and the staff wouldn't let them leave after the surgery and made them stay for a week or so to recover. Trust me if they were allowed to come home earlier they would have. It could be different in different countries as well, my partner was in Canada when they were voluntarily admitted, I was in America.

For ur partner they cant just run around after surgery cuz of the stiches he has, they mainly keep you in the hospital because they want to make sure ure fine on ur own and not make it worst. Phych wards kept u in cuz u tried to end ur life, its something serious and thry keep u in for a long time to make sure u wont attempt it again and put u on hormon boosters to stablize yourself. And for the story, she had food posioning and they kept an iv in her to keep her from dehyrating before they can check up on her, hospitals tent to take care of the more serious pations then others, the nurse might have checked up on her to see if she feels better with the iv cuz she might have been vomiting for a long time and would be dehyrated so at least something. But i mean if u just walk in and out of the hospital and had something bad happen to you after would u think staying for a little to see ure really okay to go out and not have to visit again?

@@swj818 hospitals shouldn't force someone to stay in their care if they dont want to. It's dehumanizing and doesn't help as many people as some think it does. The psych ward I was in was considered the best in the area, they made me feel like just another statistic. I was yelled at and degraded, taken away from other patients if I got "too close" with them aka they became friends, I was also almost raped by a patient while I was there. I was told by the other patients if I told the docs that I wanted to leave they'd just make me stay longer, as I said in my OP comment I had to lie that I was getting better to get out because being there SEVERELY deteriorated my mental health.
