all you have to do is look at the periodic table and you can see that the atomic number is 12 meaning you need 12 protons and on the bottom you will see the number 24.305 this is the atomic mass. So you already have 12 protons and to figure out how many neutrons you need all you have to do is subtract 24.305 - 12(PROTONS) = 12.305. meaning you will need 12 protons and 12 or 13 neutrons. You can use 13 because you cannot split a neutron.
