Even though I know very little, right now it's like 0 to a 100 if you know what I mean. So now I'm trying to put on practice all the concepts about this. Thank you very much!

The Spotify one is kinda going backwards, Spotify is known for using 2 weird colors on all their graphics, it’s kinda their style at this point.
@eddiestok3 жыл бұрын
it's not just 'kinda' their style, it's a very intentional and central part of their visual brand identity. The spotify ad looks like a spotify ad, the revision looks more generic.

I have been struggling with my progression as a designer, not sure knowing where to find good information that is also applicable on a practical level. Doing another course or maybe even another study is just not the thing I am looking for at this very moment. But only after seeing 2 minutes of this video, I know for a fact that I will be able to learn soo much from you in a relative short period of time. So thank you very much sir for this type of content.

I legit like the original Spotify design, it's in-line with the current Spotify brand identity which utilizes harsh duo-tone color palettes. The redesign just doesn't feels right in this case, But this is my opinion.

Yeah, I felt that too, that there were too many colours - but it's ok, this is the level where we can have some disagreements. Perhaps a full black-white would have worked? Or orange-black/orange-white

Hansief is sans serif typeface in modern-vintage shape. The font comes in 2 styles which is Regular and Rough. Caution - Windows users This font is heavy to load and may freeze or crash the Windows font viewer. You should avoid previewing it before installing it (do not double-click on the font file, but right-click > Install)

In the plastic factory design, I'd use a dark brownish color to create a sence of disgust and repulsion. The blue, seemingly connotates a feeling of saftey and security, which counteracts the intent of the message. All other changes are good (unless the texture of the font looks like a kind of refined material - I couldn't see so well on my smartphone)
@niaziabdelhai3 жыл бұрын
I kind of liked what you did to it, but I also think the reason behind that is that Spotify follows colorful and futuristic branding guidelines.

1. Great! Bolder and better (I want to read it.) I wouldn't notice the plastic in the first one. Is the logo a bit too small? 2. 50/50 on this one, I wonder if the flatness of one colour was to support the punching 3D image. I am sure the non-video rendered version is punchier. 3. I like it, would maybe consider Virtual Reality in white and Experience in pink and leaving the logo white (I am sure the client would like some brand awareness etc). The buy now is MUCH better. The image is better zoomed, I think it's a bit close to the top (maybe).

The 2nd design u recreated isn't that awesome, especially since the legibility of white wasn't there at all. To make it legible u had to use 4-5 colours which is overwhelming. I think what u could do is just darkening the background and use orange and white for the texts.

In the Spotify ad, I would use a lighter shade of black on the body text , or alternatively to make the hand with the cellphone - a lighter shade to keep one of these two elements - the main focal point. Is this consideration valid?

I personally believe the Spotify promo design was a step backwards for multiple reasons. I know you are teaching graphic design, but in the real world, graphic design must adhere to the rules set out by the identity design. In this case, Spotify is known for using pastel colors as backgrounds and vibrant-ish colors as foreground. Not to say that the combination of the pale green and orange works out very well as they are complementary colors. Another thing I personally find not so professional is the use of Twitter's brand color inside Spotify's ad. In this case, the twitter logo and tag were placed there as to indicate that the quote above is from a tweet. Not necessarily as a call to action, to push people into searching that user on twitter. Thus, we don't want to make it draw too much attention. Also, the original font I thing worked just a tad better, because it had very subtle rounded features, such as the commas that made it come across as friendlier, and that is kind of Spotify's brand. What I did like was the way you tried to make the design work better with the image, but I believe you went about it the wrong way. Instead of making white text on that pale background (Contrast problems appear. Yes, the orange is bad, but white is worse) you could have made the nails and phone orange in Photoshop. That's what I would have done, at least.

in Spotify you took out there main style. They use 2 color designs. Plus being a 600K design channel you should teach people how to design better in being realm of the brand guidelines. Not ignore those just do whatever feels or looks good. There is thing called brand identity that should be maintained but you just ignore that.
