Not just a great singer but he had tremendous stage presence, as you can see. The "I'm still in love with you" album is one of the best albums ever recorded.

These artists back in the day were the real deal, no effort, no studio edits, they could run a song for as long as they wanted and take it in any direction they wanted straight, no chaser.

Though it was rare for an artist to sing live on Soul Train, one can easily see why Don Cornelius gave Al Green the okay to perform it this way after seeing how it affected the ladies! At one point, Al Green, Teddy Pendergrass, Marvin Gaye had all the women! And the guys appreciated their music as well!

I hated that it ended so fast, too. I could listen to him all day. Al Green was definitely on my short list of favorite singers. No one sounded anything like him. He caressed every word and put his whole soul in each song. Another favorite was How Do You Mend a Broken Heart and so many more.

You wouldn’t know that this is a country song originally song by Ray Price
@laminage3 жыл бұрын
He was signed to Motown when he did this Song. It's also like Back At One and I Do Cherish You a Country & Western Song. It's probably next to Kiss & Say Goodbye by The Manhattans one the best Break Up Songs of all time. If you ever share a Stage with Al Green, you're either brave, stupid or both. This is because the man is known to "Mop" and intimdate folks in the Studio. When he sang "Ain't It Funny How Time Slips Away" with Lyle Lovett who was married to Oscar Winner Julia Roberts at the time he intimidated the poor fellow. Also when Justin Timberlake sang "Let's Stay Together" with him in Concert, he admitted he had some work to do. Also if you can, listen to Al Green Singing "How Can You Mend A Broken Heart" by The Bee Gees but he did it with Joss Stone a British Blue Eyed Soul Singer.
