Here’s an easy recipe to make delicious and healthy Sattu Laddus at home:
Ingredients:
Sattu (roasted gram flour) - 1 cup
Sugar/Chini (Bura) - 3/4 cup (adjust sweetness as per taste)
Desi Ghee (clarified butter) - 1 cup
Cardamom powder - 1/2 tsp
Chopped nuts (almonds, cashews, pistachios) - 2-3 tbsp (optional)
Desiccated coconut - 2 tbsp (optional)
Instructions:
Roast the sattu:
Heat a pan on low flame and dry roast the sattu for 10-15 minutes. This step enhances its flavor. Let it cool.
Prepare the mixture:
In a mixing bowl, combine sattu, grated jaggery, cardamom powder, and chopped nuts (if using). Mix well.
Add ghee:
Warm the ghee slightly and gradually add it to the mixture. Mix everything thoroughly using your hands or a spoon until the mixture starts holding its shape.
Shape the laddus:
Take small portions of the mixture and roll them into round laddus. If the mixture feels too dry, add a teaspoon of warm ghee or water.
Cool and store:
Let the laddus cool completely before storing them in an airtight container. They stay fresh for up to 1-2 weeks.
Tips:
You can replace jaggery with powdered sugar if desired.
Add a pinch of nutmeg powder for extra flavor.
Adjust ghee and jaggery based on the consistency and sweetness you prefer.
