Lezione meravigliosa. Pensare di imparare il latino seguendo FR e la sempre ottima Prof. Irene è una specie di sogno. Prof, e come si imparano le declinazioni e altre cose (che nemmeno conosco) che non credo si possano "assorbire" nella lettura di FR? Immensa Prof. Irene!

Grazie Matteo, sei un toccasana per l'autostima! Tutta la grammatica, comprese le declinazioni, si possono imparare da FR: si assorbono in modo implicito, come hai scritto tu, e si esercitano in modo esplicito con gli esercizi e con un maestro che le faccia notare. Guardando questo video, per esempio, hai imparato il nominativo maschile, femminile e neutro di prima e seconda declinazione, senza nemmeno accorgertene. ;)

Hi Magistra Irene...have only come across you recently through Luke. I am saddened that I missed your September 2020 session on learning though llpsi and other resources. Irene can you share a list of supplementary resources and possible learning strategies like time management, I would really appreciate it. I am an English teacher but find Latin a much more gratifying language and love to impart it to my daughters. I wish you well and hope to get next live stream of llpsi. Beautiful intonation in the latin. Thanks again Irene.

I would love to be able to speak latin. I feel like it will never happen. I went to Italy for 6 years and learned Italian. I studied French at school from grade 1 to grade 10 and then went to Benin for 2 years speaking French. I felt comfortable in these languages but now after 10 years of not speaking anything other than English. I feel like ive lost so much. I'm going to try with latin and also get French and Italian back. I can still read French and Italian without much difficulty but where I trip up the most is expressing myself fluently.

Hi Michael! Yes, languages need to be practiced unfortunately, otherwise it's easy to forget them. It is possible to learn to speak Latin, though! I recommend using "Familia Romana", the book whose first chapter I taught in this video.

Hi and welcome! People actually learn Latin from scratch with this method; and if you think about it, children learning their mother tongue are able to learn it with listening and repetition without translation. Most of the videos in my channel target "upper beginners", but this one is for complete beginners. My advice is to try to listen to it with an open mind, without overthinking it; you may get away with much more than you'd thought.

Is this introduction not a 'bit extreme' for the start of a Latin journey? I am sure a lot of people were deterred before you even began the first chapter. Although your Italian accent comes through clearly, it is anybody's guess how a real Roman in those times might have pronounced the words and sentences in FAMILIA ROMANA PARS I. So, pick an accent and go with it. As long as you are understood and enjoy Latin literature, that is all that matters. After all, learning Latin, besides being very good for your brain and being entertaining, should also be fun!
