Thank you for this. When my mom was alive this was by far her favorite film. I am 34 years old and my mom was 19 when this movie came out. My mom was from Birmingham England and she said when she went to discos in 1977 - 1978 this movie soundtrack was played A LOT and people really could not get to the dance floor fast enough. This movie is iconic and the music is legendary. I play the Bee Gees in my car daily to summon my mom since she passed in 2017. My boys are 3 and 5 years old and best believe when they get to high school age I will show my kids this movie. Disco made my life better and still does. Disco is life.

The club that he danced at actually did remain open until I think 2005 or 6. I got to go several times. It was called The Spectrum. The inside STILL looked like it was from the 70s decor and all AND the light up dance floor was still there. I went there the last night it closed, it was a packed house with the line around the corner. Good times, very fun place

Yes it was. Sadly it's gone. Now it's a Chinese restaurant along w/ an office building. The whole are is Brooklyn's Chinatown. Also sadly the Crazy Country Club is gone. Next a block over is where I shop - a Chinese supermarket where Bay Ridge Lanes used to be.. Over 40 years have gone & changed. I truly miss the 1970s. The movie is still beautiful to watch. Thank goodness The Bee Gees & their great music made it & vice versa.

Yes, this made me smile. You're in my old neighbourhood. I grew up 5 blocks down 64th street from the 2001 Odyssey. I remember hearing the bass and beats from the music on hot quiet summer nights coming from the club. When I turned 21, my friend Dennis took me to the club then called Spectrum. From then on, I've gone there many times seeing many great music artists in the 1990's. I also made home movies inside which I was given permission to record and later used as footage for a music video I recorded a song to. When the club was being demolished 2 friends of mine and I made protest posters about the club building being motion picture history and shouldn't be demolished. I've called the owner of the property / construction company and tried discussing what a mistake it will be tearing down the building and would be a gold mine if it was turned into a motion picture / music museum / restaurant and night club. He bull shitted me saying there was going to be things preserved from the club and incorporated into the new building structure. I also called the Brooklyn Preservation Society of Landmarks. They asked me to photograph the building and cornerstone with the year it was built. It was old enough to be preserved as a landmark aside of it's motion picture history between Saturday Night Fever and the other various soap opera's filmed inside. One day I was driving past and found that the bull dozers had gone in from the side door and gutted out most of the building. I sneaked in thru the front doors and with my new camera cell phone took photos of what was going on. I tried to call local radio stations and Joe Causi, a radio d.j. of the disco era, tried contacting the Bee Gees, John Travolta, Even Opera Winfrey to try to start something to help step in to preserve this building at 804 64th Street. No one cared. All I have left are my memories, my home movie I made of myself on the dancefloor and my Saturday Night Fever movie. As for the Phillips Dance Studio on Bay Parkway and west 6 street, I had also been inside there. I walked in one day on an Pakistani wedding which was being held down those stairs as it was now an event venue hall. Thank you for this video. It made me feel at home again and I wish I was there with you so I could take you around to the different places. I have other stories related to the filming of this movie and the neighbourhood but it would the up the entire page.

I was in High School when SNF came out and it was quite the phenomenon back then and one movie that just about everybody had seen in my age group even though it was rated R. It was similar to Rocky which was released the year before and made Sylvester Stallone a star so in the same way this film made John Travolta a star in his own right. It's amazing that a lot of the filming locations still exist even after 45 years! As always Scott, your thorough research has come through again and consider this one of your best videos. SNF is my all time favorite movie for so many reasons. I loved your video beyond words. When I went to NY the only place I made it to was Lenny’s Pizza. The girl that works there told me the story that Lenny’s has had a couple of owners since 77 but her family has it now. She was so nice after I told her my story and connection to the film. My cousin Dolores Cantu is the girl that jumped on top of JT and hit him over the head with a chair and was banging his head on the ground. But I often dreamed of visiting all the locations and I appreciate you making this video. I wish I was tagging along and would’ve recited every word at every scene. Thanks again

I know a guy), I still go there to Lenny’s , thanks for the walk through, back in the day it was an awesome place to grow up , there’s nothing better than hanging out on a hot summer night in Bensonhurst and BayRidge
