I own both games, i never paid attention my genesis version does not have a referee and the green laser lights during each player presentation. Both games have the same movement speed, anyway i choose the genesis versions because of more gameplay modes and more characters created by tastuso hara

Both versións are good, Sega have exclusive Death Match Mode and you can use all chars on Single mode, also the characters have more voices when they do attacks or when they won and Snes have that 2 vs 2 mode (this mode recommend you to play with a friend, with the Cpu is very frustating because he dont help you at all)

Under used the MD? The SNES is ultimately the more powerful system. And the Genesis ver. is missing the lasers and referee, has lower res on the symbol on the ring, worst sounds and colors and lacks the 4-player mode the SNES version has. And all with a 16mbit size compared to Genesis' 20mbit

This is a common case with multiplatform games. Its even the case now. The best looking games on a system are usually the ones specifically made for it. While Super Nintendo will have the better sound, colours and effects usually, Genesis will often have better resolution, less slowdown and have more sprites on screen. If you're not including the extra chips that some SNES carts use. There are exceptions and those exceptions are usually for games made for that system. Like sound, Genesis had issues with orchestral tracks but worked well with more techno/industrial tracks where which benefitted from the more Synth aspects of the Genesis audio.

I think I’d say both versions are good, though both are missing their own as of limitations such as Sega not including another mode and Referee and SNES, the roster was cut down in order to have those features. I’d say I like to play both versions of the game.

The two SNES port's "missing" fighters are playable characters in tag team mode, just like the in the arcade original, or with a cheat, so it has technically the same roster. All fighters in single player mode is a Genesis exclusive.

The sega Genesis version hangs well with the Snes but the Snes blows it out of water with a pretty much near perfect recreation of the Arcade original. Both are still worth playing though from personally spending hours on both versions(one of my fav games). Sega allows you to play both Bosses Scorp and Jumbo in 1v1 battles while the Snes only lets you play them in 2v2. I also noticed specials are waaay easier to do in the Sega version with moves like Sonic Fist(spamming attack with Gunloc and Biff). It's like 3 presses on sega while you gotta spam the hell out of the button on the snes. But you can almost forgive Snes's more strict execution for specials due to snes supporting 2v2 which is the best way to play Slam masters imo. Sega does have an exclusive Death battle mode where the ring is covered in hazards, but it still doesn't make up for the lack of 2v2. Overall both versions are great, but if you want the best experience the Snes version is the way to go that's if you don't feel bad for emulating the arcade version lol.

You oughta think outside the box and do comparisons of similar games on the same platform. Zero Tolerance vs Blood Shot(Aka Battle Frenzy) on the Genesis/Megadrive. Both are very interesting Doom clones, running on 16-bit hardware that offer different stylistic choices and feature different pros and cons.

Knowing capcom they probably didn't make it 4 players because of the color limits on the system. if not that they probably just didn't want to since they were already screwing up the ports of Street Fighter and Punisher and any other cps 1 and 2 games they ported to the system themselves.

Imo if you want a more accurate experience the snes version is the way to go. The Genesis only supports 1v1 while the Snes supports both 1v1 and 2v2 like the arcade version. The only upper hand the Genesis has is specials are easier to preform and the two bosses are playable in 1v1 due to no 2v2. In honesty the Genesis is still a great port, but if you're wanting more accurate experience you should play the snes version.

@@inceptional the timing for the inputs are a bit more strict on the SNES version. Simple moves like Sonic fist(pressing attack rapidly) take waaaay to long to preform on the SNES version compared to the genesis and arcade.

SNES for the 4 player battle royal mode but Mega Drive for more playable characters and the exclusive death match mode. Also, I much prefer the Mega Drive music! SNES music have some poor drums and whiny leads as with many Capcom games on the system (see also Street Fighter II or the Mega Man X series).

Genesis has more 'crunch' to it's sound effect of blows. Winner. I will say, vcdecide. Whilst I find these videos interesting I do not enjoy messing with my balance and not being able to full screen the video as a result or actually sit back and consider it. Please always alternate the two versions sound yourself. This would be much much better.

What?! Why are the lasers missing on the Genesis? Why is there no ref? That's just..very stupid and so like Capcom back then. You would think after being bullied by Nintendo during the Nes day's they would have preferred the Genesis. Nintendo ruled over 3rd party companies with an iron fist. The first two years of the Genesis's life was like a dream come true and Capcom brought the games. A damn close rendition of Ghouls N' Ghosts, Strider, Forgotten Worlds, and Mercs were fantastic. Unfortunately, once the Snes hit they did things like this all the time. Look at Street Fighter 2 Special Championship Edition for the Genesis. There was absolutely no reason for the voices to sound like they did. Thankfully, this was proven a few years ago when an indy developer actually fixed the garbage substandard sound codec running on SF2SCE. It is the closest to the arcade that you can get for the 4th generation of consoles and it runs on bone stock hardware.
