The greatest contemporary American songwriter. Can't wait to see her in Need next month.

Alynda Segarra is a fascinating person. She is courageous and so endearingly open, and she has a flair for songwriting. And somehow it doesn't matter that she adheres to a few ideals and ideologies.

As Alynda sings in their song Snake Plant: "I was young when I left home, I never stopped running used to think I was alone... But nothing will stop me now, Nothing will stop me now..." Simply the best. Hurray for the Riff Raff indeed!

What does CBS Mornings do with their video encoding that make it look ... weird? Watch as the camera zooms and pans while she's strumming. Looks like her guitar frets are wavy. This has got to be more than rolling shutter, right? I don't see this on other high quality productions from other channels. Pause it @2:46. Her right hands is all digitally scattered, as is the drum mic in the bottom right.

They really mixed this to lessen the instruments

Right, at the beginning, later the instruments become more present. But the mix suits Anlyda's great voice.
