I don't own a Sportster or any kind of Harley, but I could watch Todd work on a coffee maker and still be entertained. It's amazing how cheap you can find a used Sportster with low miles. For a beginner like me, I'd be taking tons of photos as I took stuff apart...so I could remember how it goes back totether.

This is so great. I picked up a 96 Sportster a few months back, and it is my 1st bike. As I really don't know much about wrenching it yet, This video pretty much shows me how to take it apart, with real time video. I know its kinda a fun "lets rip this f'n thing apart" video for you, but it's actually very educational for me. Thank you! Happy New Year! Looking forward to watching this build!

These old rigid mount sportsters are pretty easy to work on. I've had my '99 model since new and it's been a great bike, and I've done all the work on it myself. I know it inside and out after all these years. They are very solid bikes. Hope you enjoy yours!

First of all, Lowbrow, PLEASE don't let Todd leave. He is by FAR one of the coolest guys on the web. What I wouldn't give to be able to hang around him and soak up some of that Harley knowledge. Sooner or later, I'm going to buy an old Sportster and do what he is doing, but maybe in just a little different fashion. I will follow along every step of the way because it seems that I learn best by watching. It sounds like you are going to put more $$$ into the bike than what you paid for it. That Hooligan kit isn't cheap, as are some of the other parts. Thank you, Lowbrow. This series will be awesome and by having Todd do it; it'll be even cooler. Thank you again and Happy New Year. This is such weird timing. Subscribed very recently and I picked up a daily double, two for the price of one set of sportsters day before Christmas Eve. One 1998 883 and one 2001 1200, both bikes for $2,100. The plan is to build the 883 into a street tracker … and I already have parts in route and have videos planned for each piece and day of the build! Should be fun to watch this one come together as mine comes to life as well. If the timing wasn’t weird enough for me of this video… the 1200 had old haggard saddle bags with a 10mm wrench, a Phillips head screw driver, Ibuprofen and a set of glasses. Feel like I was having dejavu watching this 😂

I'm moving to the States, a 2003 Sporster for less than $3000 😲 try south of $6500 in England and that bike is mint compared to what you would find over here, it would look like it was built in 93 nevermind 03, bad winters, salty roads,,,,. Cut the wires underneath the fender, and then they should spin off totally. it wasn't done right on our bike, because you should be able to unplug from the harness and then spin the turn signals to loosen and take off and feed the wire through.
