I am in tears, this is so funny! I graduated basic training in 98 when the Corps had Corps Values training and our DIs were supposed to be more fatherly than hard during the classes. None of them knew how to really do the classes without being aggressive so it was a lot of awkward silence when it came to us recruits participating. During a class on what to do when a fellow Marine is stealing and the theft is hurting everyone, the DI said, "This touchy feely stuff is garbage. Good to GO?!! So do what every other Marine does who doesn't want to have feelings and stuff them with the 6 beers you are allowed to keep in your barracks fridge!" One of the recruits chimed up, "6 beers is a warm up sir!" After the laughter subsided the DI replied: "That is why the package store is exactly one litre away from the barracks."

That's way easier said than done. And I know it sounds ridiculous but you would never understand unless you have been through it. This is when SNL was funny. I probably would have enjoyed it more before I went to the army. I clicked this video with the intentions of sharing it on my FB and tagging my drill sgt, but I kept cringing at everything wrong. That mental conditioning we as service members go through is real. We all still have our sense of humor (most are corny af) but no soldier, good or bad, can just ignore and get over this. And I'm not even a serious soldier. There are guys that want to be great soldiers. I'm just a guy trying to get school paid for. I understand what you are saying but it's not as easy you think.

I might be as sensitive as drill sergeant cause I got a little emotional when he came back and told them he loved them very much 😥

my TI would come back into our bay and yell out "GOODNIGHT!!" at end of day, but only to call for trainee Goodnight. He would chew out anyone who took it as a personal good night or responded.

Yeah, underrated line that should've gotten a bigger laugh. Perhaps there weren't enough _Three's Company_ fans in the audience, or they were too young, so it went over their heads. 😩😄

One of my favorite parts, in terms of accuracy, is when the drill sergeant left the room and came back and said, "I did not say at ease". That happened so many times when I was at basic

If they had a book of some of the hilarious things my drill sergeants could come up with on the fly-tempting us to break our military bearing. My favorite was one drill sergeant commenting that a recruit's head looked like "a half-sucked peanut M&M".

Funny thing is, they do actually do that bumping you with the hat shit sometimes. Years ago, they used to actually put little metal rings around the brim to make it hurt when they hit the bridge of your nose.

Eric D funnier thing is a drill instructor I worked with got it trouble for thumping a tall kid in the chest with the brim of his Smokey and we both got in trouble. Him for doing it and me for not saying anything. Thirty days away from the platoon.

That fucked me up when I crossed into the Army from the Air Force. Air Force NCO's were all Sir/Ma'am in basic, and you could continue with that trend or use ranks from tech school onward. I got a lot of smokings at LeonardWood because of my nasty prior service habits, haha!
