I love how this scene not only portrays a tomboy and a femboy, but they also share their secrets and strength with each other. Too bad they had to change for others in the end.

Change is the most difficult thing for humans to do. Park of what makes us change is the ability to laugh, and SNL has done such a good job of dragging us kicking and screaming throughout change in the last 40 years. Yes, this was funny, yes it is funny, we can't take ourselves too seriously.

@@sumthingwikked4257SNL didn’t, but you might have. Part of getting older is coming to terms with the fact that you eventually won’t recognize the world around you any more. The sooner you accept it, the better off you’ll be. There are kids who see SNL today the same way other generations did in eras past. That’s why it has such staying power. It evolves.

@sumthingwikked4257 They definitely changed. It became unwatchable a few years back when they became obsessed with liberal propaganda. I can enjoy all of the past seasons and even ones I don't relate too but the new cast and skits are pretentious and mean-spirited. They seem proud, arrogant, and just hateful towards non-liberal viewers Most people agree on this. They are just high off their own farts now. Nothing funny about pushing abortion on people

The sketch works because the writing is so tight. It had a strong premise and character arcs with goals and obstacles.

The sketch has a surprising amount of heart - it’s not making fun of either them, it’s mocking the perpetual judgment of the “popular” culture, which is an age-old phenomenon. Periodically, SNL does out-of-the-ordinary sketches like these and they’re fantastic in their own way.
