Saturdays be like... - A glimpse of this life on a cold November morning in Kansas.

No fancy living here. Just a few rowdy (but mostly behaved) kids and some animals on this land we call home. Ten years ago, I would've pictured myself in a mansion with exotic cars in the garage but instead I'm now (mostly) content with a homestead and a brand new tractor in the barn. I wouldn't really call it simple living since life out here can be tough (and you've gotta have the right mind for it!), but simply put...living a life with no neighbors on a bit of land and wonderful kids and supportive wife to share it with really isn't too shabby. This is life for now. Who knows where I'll be in the next ten years... but here's a hint at what I'm aiming for! (Gotta dream big!)

Your cows & chickens look good. Might want to put a light in the chicken coop. They need 16 hrs of light per day to continue laying eggs. Put your light on a timer, on at about 5:30 am and off at around 9:30 pm. It stinks to have to go buy eggs, especially at $3-4 / doz. 😪

Yup, not to mention that store eggs just aren't the same! I didn't know they needed that much light. We never seemed to have an issue with our very first batch of chickens, but I'll definitely have to try out the light trick. Should be pretty easy to get a timer in the coop. Thanks!
