How is this diff from electric fences for dogs?
@woodlandacres16 күн бұрын
Dog fences use a collar and are activated by crossing the wires which are usually buried or they use a wireless system. These livestock wires are basically exposed electric lines that shock anything that touches it. Animals usually investigate obstacles such as fencing with their nose so once they touch it and get zapped, they learn the wire is something they do not want to get close to again.
@dragonslayer758716 күн бұрын
Well Done! Just so folks know, I accidentally slid into my creek, and the electric fence was right there, so I grabbed it without thinking... I'm alive and well, but I've got a few goats who were probably laughing their tails off! It's quite a zap, but it not only keeps the 'Kids' safe from my VERY obnoxious bull, it keeps them from drowning... Cattle panels don't always work with a mad bull, and I can't allow my bull to hurt anyone, or himself. {I've got to sell this bull after breeding next year}..!!

I watched this because Halo states for pyrs. and i was going to try it but I think ill start adding a live stock fence in his area instead... we have turkeys and chickens that free range....
@woodlandacres18 күн бұрын
Yea, I'm currently training with spot on but the results are really the same, as expected. The hot wire works and seems to do so even after the wire is removed once our GP has seen a wire there before, so I might try running a temp wire for a few weeks along our property to see if that could be the trick.

There is a lick tub (molasses plus garlic and something else) that is a feed through to kill the flies. We got it in the feed stores (ag) up in Montana (Billings). I am sure you could find something where you live.
@woodlandacresАй бұрын
I've heard mixed reviews on those also. Was that the best solution you've found?
@marybrammer5448Ай бұрын
@woodlandacres yes, major reduction on year 1, almost no flies at all on year 2. It not only kills the live flies that land on the manure, it repels from the cows and kills the eggs/larvae that are in the dung. We kept the tubs out rear round ... a bit pricy, but we'll worth the cost.
