I just did mine today on the same car You dont have to disconnect the plug with wires to get it done. Just lift the whole part up with it still plugged in if you like.

The coil pack is called an Ignition Control Module. I got my Ion for free from a poor girl that got too frustrated with it. I don't blame her. They are good cars once you replace the moving plastic parts with aftermarket parts. The used Ignition Control Module was $50.00 at a wreckers. It won't start if its f.....). I bought 4, NGK LITHIUM IX (4344) spark plugs, but should've bought AC Delco Platinun, I guess. I found a good way to go cheap on spark plugs. Soak for 30 minutes or so in MURIATIC acid then just brush them off a little. The ones you removed weren't bad, just carbon build up, and had a few thousand miles left on them, I'm sure. Good luck.

I had the 0446 code and it was the purge canister. When it was replaced i turrned the ignition on to the battery only and pumped the brake 3 x"s and it cleared the engine light.

If the spark plugs are taken out in a particular order , is there a number on them to know which new spark plug goes where? Can one spark plug be exchanged or taken out and put in another plugs location, ie; S.P. #1 into S.P. #4 & VICE VERSA?

Can you tell me whats wrong with using Autolite Spark Plugs Im planning on replacing them maybe every 2 years since its an easy access maybe its ok to use the cheapest ones, thanks for the video.

A good trick when you don't have a spark plug socket is to just use the actual coil pack to pull it out with.

I'm old school I use a piece of small rubber hose and put over top of spark plug when taking out and installing or threading in correctly plus a small amount of anti seige grease on plug threads.

Shouldn't you have disconnected the battery before dealing with anything electrical?
@tomstarcevich11476 жыл бұрын
No you don't have to disconnect the battery. Just did this ti my saturn ion very easy to do with the proper tools😊
@YoutuberRick183636 жыл бұрын
@@tomstarcevich1147 I'm asking because the Hanyes manual says to and I have heard that if you do any work on anything electrical to disconnect the battery. I don't know what to believe anymore.
@kennethbowman85706 жыл бұрын
If you disconnect the battery it resets the computor, also you can't trouble shoot all components that are electrical. The car will not start after unplugging module. Still have to be careful. If your worried block the wheels and cover area above serpentine belt.

I have saturn ion 2003. The coolant light is on. But the gage says not overheating. Do know why
@GoodNRG.3 ай бұрын
I have had the same issue at least twice. Took it to a mechanic and they diagnosed it as a bad sensor. Doesn't mean there isn't a leak. But if you're confident you got no leaks, then likely check the sensor. Not sure WHICH sensor, but whichever one has to do with coolant. I'd first start with the one that reads the level of the coolant in the coolant reservoir. It may think its low when its actually full.
@mysteryandmeaning2973 ай бұрын
@@GoodNRG. Yep sensor in reservoir most likely. And i read that if you dont have the Delco reservoir brand in there it will mess up the coolant light somehow

Same that light used to stay there 24/7 but I eventually got a new reservoir as a replacement and it was finally gone. Now that light is back because the guy that did my timing chain job used old coolant I'm sure, but anyway will need new coolant in there and hopefully that sensor will not trip about it.

@GoodNRG.3 ай бұрын
As long as you disconnect the coil pack module, then you should not have to. Technically, you don't have to because once the coil packs come off and are out of the way, then the only thing that can shock you are them. The spark plugs won't have any electrical component connected to them at that point (coil packs out of the way).
@tazman64835 жыл бұрын
It’s not like a coil assembly, it is a coil pack, and it is exactly like that.
