The more i look at this it like joyboy was never defeated it more like he knew he was not the one who has complete everything......This reminds me of avatar the last Airbender when zuko had a chance to kill his father but he didn't do because he knew he was bot the one to do it......Lily might have been a spire for joyboy as Imu never knew Lily had a D....and Lily already left a letter before the war which means she was a D from the start.....and when we look a two pic of joyboy in the one he face 20 kings he had both arms and both legs and in the 2nd he had one arm and one leg but he was wearing the straw hats.....so maybe the straw hat in Marijoa belongs to the real Nika and that Throne maybe the real Nika used to seat there.....Bacause Emeth said he couldn't make joyboy king and at that time they were the first pirate i guess they maybe the only pirates at that time so they was no king of pirate.....so i guess both imu and joyboy faught for the throne the one value freedom and the other control but he show it as freedom....What i think the throne was already there so somebody was there which is real(Nika) used to be the king who seat there but everyone was free and joyboy wanted to be that king.....and imu may be like we don't need a king 20 king will rule but in secret he or she was in control and that support what you said

nah i think the gorosei were given immortality by Imu once they became gorosei which is why they survived so long and over time their actual bodies started to deteriorate and Imu’s power would eventually become the only thing holding them together
