Changing out a Saturn vue v6 alternator is a mother of a job..I did mine myself to save a thousand dollars.....even the maintenance manual to make it clear how to do it. But this guy's on point...too bad he had to do it in cold weather...

Going to be changing mine out today hopefully. Waiting on ups to deliver it. I'm hoping it'll get here soon. Going to be 65 for a high today. Cold front will drop it to 45 tomorrow. Had a shop change the last one out about 7yrs ago, but don't have the money to have someone else do it this time. I noticed the low miles you have on your vue. I'm at 278k and it's still going strong

Chris VH, Thank You for watching and taking the time to comment. It should hit around 45 today & back to below freezing tonight. This is an easy fix but had me scratching my head at first. Hope mine last as long. It is a pretty decent car. Chris VH I have other videos on my channel that cover many different subjects and new videos added weekly that may also be of help or interest. Thanks for the video, I tried my hand at this project this evening 2006 vue w/ 3.5 liter. Ended up removing the motor mount and using my engine hoist to lift the engine up a bit to get it out instead of removing the cover. To hold the tensioner back there's a hole in the left side of it to put a bolt in. Exact opposite of you, 110 degrees in phoenix, sweating my butt off. At least I was in the shade so my tools weren't searing.

Snap-off, You're welcome I hope this was of some help .And thank You for watching and taking the time to comment !! If I remember correctly it was it the low 20s & high teens when I changed this one. Looks like both of us work in the extremes NOT LOL I did find that hole you mentioned, but not until I was just about done. I though it had to have one but just could not find it, blame it on the weather LOL Snap-off If you haven't installed the TubeBuddy browser plugin yet, to help your channel grow do it! Does the engine need to be lifted in order to just change the belt?
@JOEZEP545 жыл бұрын
Sorry I am not 100% sure It has been awhile, it is really a tight fit & you will have to twist the belt some, but I believe you can get the belt off without lifting the engine. When you change it come back & let us know. All helpful information is appreciated. Stay well, Joe Z

Just borrow loaner tool from a major parts store. Must have a short 14 mm socket. Push it hard to your left hand side with that long belt wrench. Place a #6 Allen wrench or something similarly strong in the dedicated hole in that tensioner to hold the tension in place. Belt comes off. New belt goes in with ease due to that Allen in place. After that, use that wrench again to remove the Allen wrench. I used a long arm on the Allen wrench so when I could use the Allen without being in the path of the long belt wrench. Fool proof.
