I had enough of my father beating my maa every other day. I stepped in, shouted at him to stop, looked him in dead in the eyes and my brother pushed him to the ground. My father is a tall guy and has a rather built structure my bother with his tiny 4 feet body took him down I still can't believe where all the courage came from. I am so proud of him. And that was the day I realised that my father is a coward . I could clearly see him crumbling inside, through his eyes and that day I knew i had won a battle I didn't know I was fighting. Amir khan and his wife are doing some incredible work like paani foundation, making 900 lakes in different villages of maharashtra to conserve water and so people in villages get water to drink, for farming and addressing the future water crisis, no main stream media talks about it but when he got divorced, what not hate speech and fake narratives were spread.

My mother faced the same incident for the last 25 years. I only remember him hitting her till she fell unconscious. Me and my sisters were extremely terrified by him. She earned the living, day and night yet he would hit her till she bled. I remember him strangling her in the middle of the night, while we were sleeping (i was 12), he threw an iron pan on my mother's stomach when she was 8 months pregnant and i remember seeing my born brother dead in her arms. He has never spent a penny on us. Yet my mother endured every harassment for the sake of us as were we daughter's (and she did not want our future husband and in-laws to taunt us on parents broken marriage). Not all the men are the same, but there are some demons present in the society, who are angels to the society but are monstrous to their own family. He is not at all ashamed and has no regrets for everything he has done.

This is a powerful episode. A must watch, eye-opening narrative on what women suffer, go through in married life. 1 out of every 2 women get physically and verbally abused, just because the man wants to feel all powerful and macho to himself. The male psyche dominates and he subdues the women to his whim and will. Aamir Khan does a brilliant job in bringing out this horrifying issue to light, and this will hopefully educate families and begin a discussion on how Domestic Violence can be brought to an end.
@apratimrocks5 жыл бұрын
My mother was a victim of domestic violence, she was physically and mentally torchered 4 out of 7 days, my father is a drunk, him family behaved bad with my mother. When me and my brother grew up, we took our mother out of that place. Today my mother is very sick, results of all the bittings, torchers, etc etc. My father still drinks today even after his cancer operation, now he is a certified drunk. My mother stays with me, but we both brothers love our mother too much. This domestic violence left a big scar on my mother's heart and soul but she is never giving up.

Also, just imagine how our youth watching this would have understood what they should never do. I hope such shows starts getting telecasted more rather than "gopi basu's tragedy". These serials are a big problem. They keep portraying women as good wives, mothers, daughter in law etc. Rather we should have shows showing today's women who are independent, confident, courageous and successful.

He did it again, he pushed her down the stairs nd then apologized again. It was the third time when he tried to rape lily, when lily finally decided to leave him even though Ryle (her husband) begged her to stay and told her he loved her the most. It's really scary how her husband manipulated her to stay everytime but lily was brave enough to leave him. This woman, just like lily is an absolute hero. She brave and bold, respect to her.

When a man believe he can torture you? When he take you for granted. When he feel you worth nothing. And to clear more specifically, how many times you heard women raise her hand on her husband during argument with him. Maybe once twice or rarely. If a woman tortures her husband she should be punished too. But let's ask the opposite. How many time a man raise his hand on his wife during an argument. How many times he threaten her to abandone. We have heard so many times. And he justified her action by saying i was angry. She argued with me. Get this clearly oppressor should be punished wheather it is a man or a woman. Such an amazing, inspiring and insightful episode! It's great to see that most of the fathers/husbands of the people in the comment section are nice and treat them well (as far as I've read in the comments per discriptions by multiple people) and as for the people suffering - more power and support to you, I hope you are able to get out of your situation 🙏🏼 I think that something everyone should at least once think about is that just because he (the father/husband) doesn't hit you or taunt you or isn't abusive (in any way) makes him great, I think it just makes him a decent and a normal person. It's not something extra ordinary, what he is doing, sure it's good to be respectful but that's just basic human decency. We need to treat it so and not something that should be put up on a pedestal.

Its all because our entire society focuses on teaching us to be Sita-Savitri and consider the husband as Pati Parmeshwar. What they forget are 1. Teach the women to be Sita but do not teach the Men to be Ram, except the part where they can expel the wife from home without anyfault on their part 2. Forget, or rather neglect to teach the women that they are a seperate entity and not just an extension of the men in their life. Aunties of the colony will have hell lot of questions if a couple does not have kids but when the domestic violence happens, it suddenly becomes "pati patni ke bichh ka mamla, we should not interfere"

Aamir, it's both amazing and astonishing that we are just beginning to take actions to stop domestic violence in 21st century. We also need to give equal priority to mental and emotional violations and abuse. They are equally important and essential for both men and women, i.e any human. If 50% women go through just physical domestic violence. We can imagine what would be the % for mental and emotional violence. Only then our societies and cultures will start to truly evolve. Only then our children will learn to self and co regulate. Thank you for your divine work here. ❤🙏
