Satyamev Jayate Water Cup 2017 Awards Ceremony (सत्यमेव जयते वॉटर कप २०१७ पुरस्कार सोहळा)

The conclusion of the 45-day-long Water Cup competition always leaves us with a complex mix of emotions. Among them is the thrill of identifying winners and giving away the awards to them.
The awards for the Satyamev Jayate Water Cup 2017 were given away in a star-studded ceremony on 6th August at the Balewadi stadium in Pune. This programme was televised on various TV channels on 15th August.
Speaking at the awards ceremony, Paani Foundation’s CEO Satyajit Bhatkal said that a dream, that is, the eradication of drought, had unified people across age groups, geographical locations and nature of work. Celebrities and others had come together, inspired by a common cause, and had joined the Water Cup. Lakhs of villagers from 30 talukas of Maharashtra had given their all to banish drought from their areas.
Cine superstar Shah Rukh Khan applauded the efforts taken by the villages that have participated in the Water Cup. He said he saw no obstacles in the path to a better future for these villages.
Maharashtra Chief Minister Mr. Devendra Fadnavis announced a bonanza of prize money for the villages, over and in addition to the prize money set aside for them by Paani Foundation. He also urged the Paani Foundation team to expand the next Water Cup competition to 100 talukas of Maharashtra.

Congratulations to all the people who participated, only when people come together change can happen. Paani foundation has done something exceptional and really caught the imagination of people by starting this water cup. When Amir Khan puts his mind to something, he really takes it to its logical conclusion. I hope to see this peoples movement spread across India and make India drought free. 2019 Maharashtra to be drought free something which no government could achieve it, is being done by Paani foundation and I am sure it will be achieved.
