For international listeners; Sivert Høyem is a Norwegian blues vocalist, he's known for his deep voice and has such acclaimed songs as Prisoner of the Road and Endless Love.

I wouldn't quite call it blues, but I'm unfamiliarized with his solo albums. Blue's inspired, ok. His work with Madrugada is fantastic and Industrial Silence is, in my opinion, a nothing-short-of-amazing, dark and melancholic indie album. In the vein of Nick Cave, Cohen, etc. with a hint of (good) Pearl Jam "poppiness" to it.

Into the night My long suffering friend We'll be reborn again Right here where everything ends Face to the sky A trail of smoke in the air Pass into emptiness New life's awaiting you there Slave to some wretched old Imagination of yesteryear Now all that grows in the skulls Of the living are flowers of fear The morning red A sun-god calling you back Down through a thousand years White embers whistle and crack Await the dawn with her kiss of redemption, My firebird! You were the queen of the souls of all men Before there was the w-o-r-d The morning new, the morning red, The fiery promise Mad swirling smoke wheels round her head Dedication to the queen of souls, her lost disciples And when the fire's work is done Our time to be reborn By pagan streams A wind whips the leaves from the trees And it is revealed to us That we are dreams within dreams Born from some wretched Old imagination of yesteryear Now all that grows in the skulls of the living Are flowers of fear The morning new, the morning red, The fiery promise Mad swirling smoke wheels round her head Dedication to the queen of souls, her lost disciples And when the fire's work is done Our time to be reborn The morning new, the morning red, The fiery promise Mad swirling smoke wheels round her head Dedication to the queen of souls, her lost disciples And when the fire's work is done The phoenix now reborn

I remembered my first time hearing this. It was absolutely unpredictable. Not your typical clean vocals and screaming. Just that its Sivert's singing alone made it a masterpiece And the lyrics are amazing. Every time I play this song I have to put it on repeat for a while before I can move on to another song. The guitars, the drums, the choir in the background, everything is perfect about it... well, to me at least :)

I'll never understand why they get so much shit for experimenting with the genre and composing what they feel. For 1 - how do you think different genres come about? Experimentation. 2. People fucking change. Music is an expressive outlet of the soul. Besides, I just love how people think bands need to fit in a box of what they feel they should be put in. You don't like it? Don't listen to it. I've listened to Satyricon for well over 10 years. I'd be sick and tired of them if all we had was exact copies of Nemesis Divina and The Shadowthrone. Get over yourselves.

This song is absolutely an amazing masterpiece and simply blows my mind in every sense. This one song alone makes their entire new album worth getting. This is pure inspiration to me. Can't stop blaring this in my car everywhere I go. Have got to see these guys in concert soon!!! \m/ These guys don't stop getting better!!!

One day we just grow up. I few like a giant when hear BM, but this album is far away the most important job in Satyricon history, lyrically powerful. "Phoenix" is like a pagan cult of the ancients. Brilliant and beautiful.

It's strange that so few people mention the lyrics of this song. And this one is really heavy. It's actually a song about dying.

I’m my opinion it’s about burning down the world getting rid of all the secular and useless arrogance to be reborn into the world we used to be before governed by “the word”

@@keithanmccabe3842 Maybe it is. Your interpretation is very lofty. Mine is more mundane. Satyr has a brain tumor and there are flowers of fear in sculls in this song. In the beliefs of many religions, one can only be reborn when the body is cremated. And the queen of souls can be an imaginary figure, a last resort that a dying person believes in, trying to believe that there is SOMETHING MORE after death. Maybe I'm interpreting it wrong, but for me it's one of the heaviest, beautiful and at the same time terrifying song lyrics.

Claro, es una canción sobre rozar la muerte, como satyr, que tuvo un tumor cerebral y de ahi nace esta canción
