Ants very likely fart, albeit there’s no way to tell if they make noise while doing so. Because ants are so little and common, no one has attempted to research their gas ejection. Did anyone else catch the reference to "Beware The Shadowcatcher" that Naomi made in the beginning of the story, when she said the job cancelled because the owner said "she would rather clean the place herself"? If I need to explain it, the one that hired the maids was Sam, trying to help get more customers by properly getting the place cleaned. In "Beware The Shadowcatcher" Sam lists a bunch of reasons why the diner was losing business (I believe this was right before the Shadows arrived the first night), one of these reasons being the place hadn't been properly cleaned in years, to which Maude (the Diner owner) responded with something along the lines of not needing somebody to do something she could have done herself.
