Eddie, you actually did get almost everything. There were a few smaller, more superficial details you missed but nothing relating to the story. The only "Alternative ending" is that either you don't make it in time, or when the helicopter comes you just... Walk back into the woods. And they leave you. I kinda want to rant about this game because it's very close to my heart story wise. It's a game with 2 themes in it's story. The first is about life and problems. How you face them and deal with your trials and tribulations defines who you are. Henry is a broken man trying to pretend he isn't broken. Distract himself with work so he doesn't just fall apart. This is why he and Delilah do E-sex during the first time they see the Fire (which you definitely did btw it just doesn't show that part), or why they are so personal with each other. They are both fundamentally hurt and broken people just trying to not fall apart using any distraction possible. And by the end, Henry realizes (hopefully) that he can't just run away forever. He has to face his problems eventually. He has to go home to Julia and either cut things off truly, or stay with her in her hard times. The other Theme however is one I think you missed Eddie. Not because I think you're dumb, but because it was working on you. Firewatch is actually not a horror game. Ned isn't actually HUNTING you, you ran into him on accident two times and after that, he's not actually following you. But you felt like he was. Delilah actually had nothing to do with anything. But you almost felt like she did. There was no conspiracy or anything. But you thought there was. That's because the 2nd theme of Firewatch is the idea of how much of a Demon Isolation is, and how much it wreaks havoc on your paranoia. There was never anything after you, no risks besides anything normal about the woods, nothing. But you were alone. The only thing close to a human connection you had was the other end of a radio, Miles away. Isolation makes you paranoid, frustrated, irrational and more. Firewatch is a cautionary tale for those who are isolated to always try to keep human connections. Friends, family, someone. Because that Paranoia will come for you. It always does. It may take different forms, but it will be there. It's one of the most well written and voice acted games ever made IMO, maybe THE BEST Indie game (I'd Argue Coffee Talk and it are tied) in recent memory. And that's not because it feels good to play, but because it accomplished it's mission. Firewatch wanted to warn you away from isolation, both Physical and Social. And if it left you feeling good at the end or fulfilled, the Isolation would've led to some good even though realistically the only thing that kept most people sane during this game's more scary sequences is the hope that Delilah would say something to pull them out of the moment and calm them down.

I super super super love story games. What remains of Edith finch and still wakes the deep (which he already played) are the two that come to mind when thinking of story. They might not have a lot of gameplay, but that doesn’t make them any less incredible. I love all 3 of these games with my whole heart because as an aspiring author, I want to do stuff like this. Have some tense moments but then pull at the heartstrings a little bit.

I have always respected games like these that are lighthearted on the outside, but the story is deep and can even get dark at some times (also the E-smex thing got me, you aint gotta do that brutha) one more thing too, to everybody reading this, have you ever been so attached to a game, that you just feel off when you beat it? Like for example, i had GOW Ragnarök, (a pretty long game) and i loved this game, so much to the point where i had a routine, so i would wake up, do all the morning things one does, do anything important, then hop on GOW for about an hour everyday for about 1.5-2.5 weeks, and i was so used to this, that when i beat it, i felt like something was missing, almost empty, but its just something that comes and goes, the feeling never lasts forever. (and for the people who are natural haters that hate everything that has a pulse, no, i am not a geek, yes, i have a life, and no, you don't.)

Game recommendation: If you like the beauty in Firewatch, you should try The Long Dark. (Story mode) It's a lore heavy survival game with beautiful art and sound design. The story mode might seem more interesting. Overall, would recommend.

I'm glad that you finally decided to play Firewatch; I have been requesting this to be played amongst a few games along with others I think, maybe, a year now. I've watched it many years ago when it came out from one of the KZbinrs I used to watch, and I must say you did get most of the walkthrough but you did miss little details and there is technically another ending. You could have turned your back on the helicopter and stayed in the woods, either to stay and be alone like Ned or to find Ned. I'm pretty sure it's to find Ned. All the things you did that has to do with paranoia and not trusting Delilah, all comes to play with what the game is actually telling in terms of themes. You are exactly doing what the theme is portraying which is paranoia, and that is as realistic as it gets with the horrors in regular life. There's nothing you could possibly do but call it in, and to be honest, if you had chose to stay behind, Delilah may or may not do exactly Henry wanted her to do with the report like that first time early in the game. That's to say, I did say themes, not a single theme.
