Fun fact....Avi and Kevin were roommates when they first started PTX...the relationship was so close they referred to each other as brothers....Mitch and Scott also were roommates and referred to themselves as sisters.....lol 😆

I don't think even Kevin knew he could sing those notes. Avi encouraged his singing, and they discovered he was a tenor and it grew from there. He does some really amazing stuff.

You are correct. Kevin didn't start singing until he was in PTX. They thought they may need help in a 5 part harmony. Avi worked with him to start singing,etc.

It’s unreasonable how good they all are. There is a reason they all get called aliens! KO’s parents are I believe a doctor (psychiatrist or psychologist) and mom is a nurse. At PentaCon, they have a pentaparents panel, not sure if it’s something to react to, but it is worth a watch on your own time. I would LOVE to go to PentaCon! It's amazing how one negative comment can get you when you are in a world of positive ones. If you're constantly being bombarded with negativity you start to become numb to it. I think that's a big part of the problem with the world right now. I like this community that follow the acapella groups. I am heavily into the art and bullet journaling communities too and they're equally as lovely and supportive. It's really reassuring to know that the world isn't completely made of of trolls👹

This is a mashup but with the beat of Are You That Somebody and most of the lyrics/melody of New Rules. It blends so smoothly and worked perfectly. Kevin actually was messing with that blend on his own and Scott was like, We're Doing This!

Pentatonix are masters at mashups which you will figure out now that you’re on the sing off journey. All the other groups did their mashups exactly liked you guessed they would part of one sing going into the 2nd song. But not Pentatonix they blended their 2 songs throughout so you couldn’t even tell it was supposed to be two different songs. Even the judges were surprised. Keep in mind they were still very new with each other when doing this. Other mashups they’ve done worth reacting to are La La latch, Butter/Dynamite, save the world/ Don’t worry child, Hey momma/Hit the road jack, and winter wonderland/don’t worry be happy

One of the reasons I love your reactions is that you are yourself. You make it fun and entertaining along with sharing great music. I also like reactions that are more subdued. I can definitely say about 99% of the people in the ptx fandom (the only fandom I have experience with) are genuinely nice people if just a little bit overprotective at times. Which makes it incredibly jarring when you stumble across that other 1%. Personally I really enjoy your reactions, and I'll definitely be there for the livestream Monday. It's unavoidable! PTX has done songs that I love the originals, but now when I hear the original I miss the PTX harmonies and background vocals lol And yes, basically they did New Rules vocals over Aaliyah's music and then did the breakdown of Are You That Somebody. They do something similar with La La Latch, which is awesome if you haven't done that one yet.

Very true. I can't stand overly animated reactors.... if that's what it is. Overly. If it's natural, then go ahead, just can't stand the over actors. And saucy is clearly genuine. If you sit and soak in when you genuinely react, that is what I want to see. If you pause and go back and scream and fangirl, then that's what I want. And if you do wisecracks and humor as a way to collect your thoughts (like saucy) that's what I want. You can tell when someone is actually listening and reacting, so however that is in that person is what I like!

I have seen many reactors go down the live, "pay for a reaction route" and while I love the live vibe, the discussion, the group chat and all that, I have to say I really dislike the actual 'reactions'. I appreciate how reactors stop and tell us what they are thinking and how they are feeling etc. I really like your 15 min reaction vids full of insights. I find when reactors switch to live, its a continuous watch (with maybe one or two pauses) and a 'wow, that was awesome' at the end. Not gonna lie, if you spend any amount of money on a reaction...you'd hope it would be more than that...just a little tip for when you start.

Kevin’s father was born in Nigeria; his mother in Grenada. Kevin was born in California and raised in Kentucky. He speaks fluent Mandarin Chinese. His father wants him to be a doctor. Kevin was graduating from Yale and was on his way to med school when Scott found him on KZbin and asked him to join PTX. He finished his final exams, went to California, and met the others the day before the Sing Off audition. Kevin’s father’s reaction to him winning a Grammy award was acknowledge it was nice but when was he going to medical school? Harsh.

Pentatonix is phenomenal at mashing up songs. Their transitions are so seamless that people who aren't familiar with the originals often can't tell where one song ends and another begins. PTX loves to overlap them, too, which makes it even harder. The Daft Punk medley was a prime example, and their expertise in this field has only increased. I think you'll enjoy their Evolution of Michael Jackson. It's a one-take phenomenon! Thanks for the shout-out for Ukraine, and, yeah, keep ALL the facial moves.

Would you consider posting the individual videos with like a filter over the video or something after the live here on YT? Like one video for each music video you do if at all possible. Sounds like you'll be on way past my bedtime Mondays for me to be able to attend. Teatime with Travis does this, which I greatly appreciate. I agree with you: most of the type of music PTX covers is not my thing, and so I've never really heard the originals in most cases, or think they are just okay if I have....but as soon as PTX covers the song it's THEIRS (with a few exceptions like Queen cuz it's Queen) and as far as I'm concerned it IS the original.

I missed this at first but I thought you might have put general channel info on it thinking everyone would see it. I don't follow Pentatonix after Avi left and there are probably others like me that you missed. Thoughts - the major benefit for the artists of reaction channels is advertising. That is why they do the many, many interviews on radio and tv shows. Any content you keep just on the limited platform of patreon means that the artist is getting very few views of their work compared to an open reaction on KZbin and they are somewhat busy so they won't be joining long livestreams that may have one of their songs on it. I know reactors get very excited when an artist mentions them or answers their question. Again the only one I watch consistently from acapella land is Avi with Tim, Austin, Geoff, Peter Hollens and Peter Barber usually within a short time after they put content up. Avi mentioned in his livestream (waiting room) before the "First Place I Go" premiere one reactor who is a favorite of his and answered another's question about watching reactions. kzbin.info/www/bejne/nYnVZH2BfJacfac Avi doesn't have a patreon so his livestreams etc are always accessible online as advertising to draw in more listeners to his music. Tim Foust and Geoff Castellucci do a combination so everything doesn't stay in patreon and serves as advertising for them as well. You do also get paid per view on the analytics so having content in the clear and not behind a paywall works for you too. Good luck.

I’ve always thought your facial expressions and mannerisms remind me of actor Ryan Reynolds’s. Fun fact kirstin and Scott did a TikTok talking about that they believe Ryan Reynolds’s is a secret Ptx fan and then go on to give a bunch of coincidences why they think that.
