It actually wasn’t The Voice it was The Singer Competion which was a show with all professional singers across China. Dimash came second and was invited as a wild card. There was a rule of the competion that only Chinese competitors could win. I don’t think they were expecting our Dimash to almost run away with the votes. The other competitors were also brilliant but our Dimash just blew the audiences away hence he became an overnight sensation in China from the first episode. They had to provide bodyguards for him after the first episode went to air and the rest is history. Great reaction again, thank you ❤️💕🇦🇺

Dimash is not from this universe, lol..I love Dimash..his range, his breath control..his humbleness..he's the whole package..he placed 2nd in China, only because they didn't want an outsider to win. That changed after that season..the Chinese people absolutely loved him..I believe it was the show's producers that kept him from winning..still a winner to me..the announcer on this concert either was just mistaken, or was playing to the Audience..but we all love him..thank you for reacting to him, Nick..you can't go wrong with anything he performs

He actually didn’t win the Chinese “Voice”. The show he was on is “The Singer” and he came in second as apparently he as a “foreigner “couldn’t win the title. That has since changed, as the next year Jesse J from the UK won it. Doesn’t matter if he won, because that show catapulted him to fame regardless and we have been able to enjoy his music ever since.

In my opinion, his best performance of all. That's a pretty high bar I know but this was the first song written specifically for Dimash's incredible talent.

Dimash swims to train his breath control. He tries to stay at places that have pools when traveling. Here's a 40 sec vid of him swimming. Dimash is indeed spectacular. Sadly I am sensitive to high frequencies/pitches. He literally hurts my ears, but he is awesome.I am glad you are enjoying him. But....Would you listen to some other Asian bands? I would love to recommend two. The first is One OK Rock. I would suggest listening to "We Are", "Renegades", and his newest song "Save Yourself". The second is Dreamcatcher. I will suggest listening to "Deja Vu", "BEcause", and "Maison". Subtitles are recommended. I hope you will take the time to decide if you want to expand your listening pleasure. There is so much out there, but these are two of my top 15 favs. Some of the others I love are indeed PTX and Home Free. But there is also Postmodern Jukebox, Nightwish, Apocalyptica, The Hu, and The SIDH. I would have a never ending supply of other artists, but I will stick to asking for two. Sadly I am broke & cannot afford Patreon, or I would make a few requests to see what else would float your boat.

The band that Dimash accompanies at this performance called A’Studio, who composed and performed “Sinful Passion” in 1998. Written by Igor specifically for Dimash as a song commissioned to be the anchor performance for the opening ceremony of a recent European Olympic games. Do NOT react to the opening ceremony video. It must have been awesome to have been there but the video sucks, especially if you're interested in Dimash rather than a big white flag being moved slowly by four boring dignitaries wearing white. 😂 Instead, watch one of the other Olympicos. Mike, do you agree the best two performances are the live concert mid 2019, in which he's singing about us all, encouraging us all to know the world wants us to be the world class we that we can all be, and the Digital Dimash version where he's singing the exact same song and lyrics but it starts with Dears on a TV chanting his name and he's essentially singing the song to himself to psych us all up *but especially himself* to perform to his/our world class best? Both are amazing spectacles and musical journeys imo, and his stage presence is utterly world class in both, but they're *completely* different presentations, with entirely different (awesome in both) musical backing, and completely different experiences cognitively, at least for me. (That said I don't recall any specific differences in the vocal delivery, so perhaps Digital Dimash one is a lip sync of the first? I don't think so, and I know of one song where it sounded like there were two identical versions and some folk loudly insisting one was a lip sync of the other, but voice analysis software clearly shows that the two tracks are separate performances despite seeming identical. Maybe you know Mike?)

The Singer is nothing like The Voice, is a competition for already established singers with a strong fanbase, and he didnt win, he got second because the rules didnt allow a non chinese singer to win. They changed that rule the year after (and in my opinion, it was also with unfair results, Jessie J won, when Hua ChenYu was so much better, I guess the wanted to show that a foreigner could win too....).

No, he didn’t win The Voice in China - Dimash competed and came second on a Chinese show called The Singer in 2017 - a showcase for well known professional singers in China. Dimash was invited to participate as a wild card and wasn’t expected to go very far in the competition. Competing singers (there were 10 finalists) performed live on stage and the 500-member audience panel (all connected to the music industry) voted, deciding the outcome of the results in knockout rounds - a gruelling process for competitors. He was the first foreigner to perform on the show and was 22 at the time. As the least known artist Dimash was first up to perform. He sang SOS and became an overnight sensation in China with something like 600 million views on Hunan TV. Calls about him crashed the switchboard. From there he gained a global fan base. He placed first in 3 episodes with SOS, Opera 2 and Adagio. He turned 28 in May. 🙏🏻🇦🇺
