SAUCONY ENDORPHIN PRO 3 - ONE OF THE BEST SUPER SHOES OF 2022? - 100 MILE RUNNERS REVIEW | EDDBUD
I have enjoyed all the 100 miles or 160km in the Endorphin Pro 3. A revised and highly changed version of the Endorphin Pro series.
A worthy contender to the Vaporfly Next% 2 with a midsole to match the marathon king. The upper and outsole are now highly improved and this one represents a viable alternative to the Nike model.
This is a shoe supplied to me for review but these are my humble opinions and my views are not being vetted by anyone before you guys get to see them.
Has this one worked out for you so far in 2022 or are you planning to pick it up soon? Still a race option for me going into December 2022 / Early 2023.

Saucony nailed it with this one. I use the Endo Pro 3 for both speedwork and long runs with tempo/race pace intervals.

@@jconcoffee I just checked Strava. I have 332 km in the EP3 by now. They hold up really well. Kind of a luxury training shoe you can also use race day. It feels much faster than the Speed 3, which for me is more of an easy day shoe (a great one).

I love the Saucony Pro 3 for all distances. It feels fast, comfortable and natural to run in. As you said - it can be found for 180 earth credits online. I can’t wait for the endorphin elite in 2023. 🙏

Great review and spot on all features. I’ve just used them on a 10k for my first run. Amazing comfort and feel but already shows wear on the sole. Was a road run so nothing too abrasive so I’ll keep my eye on them as the fit is perfect for me.

I had the Saucony Endorphin Pro 3's before, but the mesh fell apart around the widest part of my foot after 400k. Went back to the store and they gave me a new pair, now the yellow ones. I had the blue-orange ones, but they came with round shoelaces which gave me some pressure in the top of my foot, which just didn't feel right at times. My new ones have flat shoelaces which is way better and more comfortable! I really enjoy them and they hold up perfectly for a marathon!

Great review Edd. I was gifted a pair of these recently, and I had intentions of using them for a Half Marathon. About the same time, I got a pair of the Alphafly V1's. I ended up running the Half Marathon in the Alphaflys (because my Half Marathon PB was in the Vaporfly V1), and I wish I had not. I just do not understand all the hype around the Alpahflys. I found them okay, but not near as comfortable and enjoyable as the Saucony Endorphin Pro 3. It will be the Pro 3 for my next Half Marathon.

Got to try these out in a demo run a couple nights ago. The upper is definitely snugger than the original Pro. Very cramped in the toe box. I'd probably need to go up a half size where I just skipped the first set of eyelets in the lacing in the original Pro. Outsole was definitely improved, handling the cold & wet conditions much better. That upper did leave my toes feeling really cold though.

Awesome shoe, The only supershoe that has worked for me. It took a little time to adapt to the carbon plate, i had some initial sorness for the first couple of outings but as i adapted things got better and better. This is now my go to marathon shoe, love it!

I have to say for me the Endorphin Pro 3 is my shoe of the year, and i have bought the Hoka Mach 5, Novablast 3 and Vaporfly Next % 2 this year, but my feet feel more confortable in the End.Pro3 than my Vaporfly %2, and when your feet feel more confortable you run faster, well in my case i do ;)

I have the Endo Pro+ and found the Pro3 to feel very similar for me. Couldn’t justify the high cost of the 3 when i still have miles left in the Pro+ so sent them back. Great shoe though

Been looking at this as a option for my half marathon debut in march. Using a ankle foot orthosis though that ideally needs standard eyelets to attach to the shoe, not loops like this, the Adidas Pro 3 and Prime X uses. Right now looking at getting another pair of the Adidas Pro 2s as they work great with the orthosis. Just a bit boring buying the same pair of shoes 😆

It's always the dilemma for those of us with foot issues... go with the tried and true or try something new??? After the prime X everything else just feels meh. For change of pace I put on the vibram five fingers again to remind myself what running used to be like. And I'm actually enjoying it. Concentrating on my form and stride letting my body do the work again, and then see if it improves my running in super shoes again

Seriously weighing up whether to go for these or the Speed 3s. I've got a pair of Triumph 19s for easy days and Speed 2s for the "faster" stuff. But they are both heading towards and past 300 miles so not sure whether to just go for the Pros or Speed 3. Can these be used on training runs? Obviously I would probably limit the amount of training runs I'd do in them. 1/2 marathon in April so the Speed 2s may just hold up till then if I only use them on "speed" sessions. Any thoughts?

Tempting, but I'm too enamoured with my prime x to look elsewhere. My white/green pair are already close to 400km, and that's just a couple months in. They still feel great as well, I can't wait to wear them out as my strung are next in line. I didn't get on with the speed 2, gave me chronic runners toe, but I might bite if the price is right.

Just snagged a pair of Endorphin Pro 3 in Prospect Quartz (pink) colorway at $136+tax on Amazon Saucony store (last one on my size). Amazing deal! Also got a pair of Endorphin Speed 3 again in Prospect Quartz colorway for $103+tax. This was the cheapest colorways in either case. I don't care that much of the color, but it will definitely grab some looks.

I seem to be in the very small minority who didn't get on with them. I've just bought some Saucony Kinvara 13, which I much prefer. I wish more shoe companies would be like Hoka and Brooks and give you a test period where you can return if you're not happy. In cycling most saddle manufacturers offer demo versions, so you can try before you buy, something else it would be nice to see running shoe companies do. I'm now stuck trying to sell the Pro 3 with only 10km on them at not too much of a loss 🤷🏻‍♂️

I used to use Saucony triumph, but then they updated it and they started giving me shin splints, so ended up using Hoka Clifton’s, and now use the Mach 4, and carbon x 2, I’ve been looking for an alternative, how would this compare with the Hoka’s? Any help would be greatly appreciated 🙌

I have sent the Pro 3 back because the Pink colour was to be much for village life. Have the Speed 2 and 3 and. Speed 2 is much snappier then Speed 3 that became a daily trainer. Waiting for the Pro 3 to go on sale next week being ⬛ Friday.

I love the endorphin pro 3 but my only problem with it is it’s too tight in the toe box and there no half size up my size 12. I ended up getting the size 13 but I’m not sure if the rest of shoe is a bit big now but I still enjoyed using it So I’d only give the upper a 2 out of 3 But I agree with the midsole been 3 out of 3 it just feels really really nice , cushioned and bouncy

Any shoe quacking and squeaking once it gets wet? My speed v2’s litter make a loud audible quack every step when I run in the rain and a couple runs later. It’s embarrassing but I love the shoe so much I will deal with the public shame…

Would you rank it above New Balance’s 880v12? I see a lot of really good runner KZbin channels rank that one really really high but I’m super new to running shoes, So idk if shared favorites in rankings is common or if it fluctuates more than I know

They are not in the same league. This is a racing super shoe and NB 880v12 is a daily trainer. Kind of comparing a racing car with a compact car. NB 880v12 is more like Saucony Ride 15. Saucony Endorphin Pro 3 is comparable with New Balance FuelCell SC Elite v3 if you want a fair comparison.

@@EDDBUD I get it now. I mistook it for one of the ones that were pretty interchangeable. I’m strictly in training right now, I’m not race ready for anything, So I haven’t looked good into strict race shoes, I’ve seen videos on them but I’ve more looked at trainer shoes. Idk all of which shoes are interchangeable yet, I see that some are pretty interchangeable but I haven’t gotten any strictly racing shoe yet bc my pace isn’t even close to a race pace rn, in short, A super shoe would be too fast for me, I couldn’t keep up with something that rolls/rocks you forward as much as those would and as quickly lol. I have the Hoka Mach 5 now and I’ve had to learn to slow my pace with it 😅

@@D.A.T.J. Well, if money is not a concern you could train in these, and some faster runners do so. They are not meant to be as durable as daily trainers since to reduce weight there is less rubber (or thinner rubber) on the outsole. Not all supershoes are natural in slower paces but from what I am hearing Pro 3 is pretty comfortable at all paces. I recommend you get a pair of Endorphin Speed 3 into your rotation. It is a do-it-all shoe, you can use it as a daily trainer, but it is also a pretty fast shoe. Eventually you will want to have a few shoes in your rotation.

Ah timely as I was doing a session of 10 x 2 min reps in these yesterday in damp conditions and does work well and it is also pleasant to warm up in which isn't always the case with these "super" shoes. I would have to say that it is my favourite shoe that have bought this year but the Vaporfly NEXT% still just edges for me although it is probably the closest to it which probably helps liking it. Yeah out of the box they were rather wide for me but, after my usual tug of war contest, getting the tongues almost touching and folding in the uppers I was off. TBH nearly all my shoes are like that. I think if they made shoes generally for me not many other runners could get in them so whilst it is a bit annoying personally I have learnt to deal with it. Also when you have "adjusted" shoes they soon start of feel like slippers anyway.

I guess if you have a narrower foot it could be the reason that peg turbo next nature works. I have to really struggle to get that one on!

@@EDDBUD Could be. I had to pull in the laces a lot on them too - so much so I decided to cut them but they now look rather narrow on me which suits my eye for sure. The Endorphin Pro 3 now look similar. I don't think those are wide per se just that there is next to no tongue padding to hold your foot.

This is the question for the Dear Edd column. Dear Edd, here is my quandary and perhaps the Saucony Endo Pro 3 might resolve it? I travel in my work and so I live at times out of a small suitcase. Thus, I prefer to carry only one shoe on the road. Quandary Now: I slavishly follow recommendations from my Coach Garmin-Bot that dwells on my wrist in my Garmin Fenix 7. Bot suggests varying runs; base, tempo, VO2Max, long runs, etc. At home I have an assortment of shoes in rotation so choices are vast. On the road, there in the hotel, only one pair of running shoes. So Edd, I am now in the market for a lightweight, padded, fast, super-shoe that can accommodate an array of aerobic and anaerobic workouts. I have an extra pair of Vaporfly Next Percent 2% and really like them. But should they be the shoes that live in the suitcase? Or, could the next traveling pair be Saucony Endorphin Pro 3s? I run frequently (4-5 days per week, 3 to 6 miles per run...old guy trying to stay fit). Or, suggestions?

The only issue with the pro 3 is that it’s quite the racer and I would suggest would prompt you to use a higher gear too often. It’s probably the closest fit to your needs and the upper will flex and reduce down for more suitcase room

I don't get it, these shoes on my feet are a real pain in the A...I can't get used to it, I don't know what's wrong.... Maybe the drop, I am used to run in 6 and lower, but still, I find them clunky, not responsive, I get tired so much faster in them...Mystery... Love my alphaflies 1 so much....
