Saucony Ride 16 vs. 17 | Should I Upgrade?

I absolutely love the 17 but, after 2 miles, horrible rubbing on my inside of the left heal. I had a similar experience with the Guide 16 but decided to put a band aid in the area and it eventually went away. I love the 17 so much I may consider doing the same with this shoe.

Tried on the 17 today, what an update. Really enjoyed it, and it knocked the Novablast 4 out for me since I didn't love that update

Got the 17 today, so comfortable. I feel it was a really nice improvement over the 16. I think it will be accommodating to more feet.

I currently have the Ride 16, fantastic shoe, definitely my favorite daily trainer! I love the versatility of the shoe, I’ve done almost all my daily miles in it, done speed work, I’ve even raced in it! Definitely not the best shoe for racing but for speed work and just daily miles, amazing!

The Endorphin Pro 4 is pretty much their premier racing shoe. If you want to pinch some pennies though you can go with the Endorphin Speed 4 and get an equally as good shoe. The only difference is the Pro has a carbon plate and the Speed has a nylon plate. Or if you like the carbon plate you can always go with the Pro 3.

I've been a fan of the Ride series since number 8. I've tested the 13 and the 15 at the running track and the last model (from new) was just 8/9 seconds away from carbon plated shoes on a 5K. Although there is a study about how much PEBA foam deteriorates compare to EVA "Influence of different midsole foam in advanced footwear technology use on running economy and biomechanics in trained runners", I must admit that while I'm still enjoying running (at slow pace) in the Pro 2 and Pro 3 after 700km, the Ride 15 were dead just after 450km. I wonder why Saucony doesn't release a version of the Ride using a PowerRun PB midsole.

Given the changes that are going to occur with the triumph 22, that kind of change may not be that far off in the future.

Is it me or is there a little bit of a position shift with the saucony Range. Kinvara 14 moved into the ride space, the Ride 17 moves in to the triumph space and the triumph moves into the shift spot. The new Hurrican becomes the Kinvara pro with out a plate, super keen to try this one and the sinister took the spot of kinvara/type A position. But saucony were smart enough to have the convergence shoe which is basicly the Kinvara 13, and the Axon 3 replaces the shift?

The 16 are great, mine got tired so I went for an upgrade to the 17. Nowhere near as good, laces too long, tounge too short (it slips down), can't seem to lockdown as good as the 16. I used the 17 for 3 half marathons & tonight took my 16's out of retirement & had a great run. Would not reccommend the 17's at all.

Love that Saucony are upgrading the foam in both Ride and Triumph however the big weight penalty they each receive is so disappointing.

On paper, Ride 17 looks like a drop-in replacement for Triumph 21, whereas Triumph 22… is now supposed to be some burlier thing. I’m not a fan of shoes getting heavier in general after 2022
