I just loved every bit of it✨ and I love you too. I also uploaded a visual poem entitled, "saudade" on my channel but I must admit that I'm not really sure if my interpretation of the word is even close to what it really means but I still made a poem out of it😅

Hello!!! Thank you for your kind words! I just visited your channel and saw your video. Wow, did you write it? I love poetry, and I much appreciate anyone who writes it, plus you also added visuals. That's even more special. Saudade can invoke so many emotions that maybe there's no definite answer or meaning due to how broad these range of emotions can be; each meaning of 'saudade' is to be defined by the person who uses it and why they use it

@@AYRA___ Of course I would notice you ☺️ I always reply to comments here, should I feel they are sincere. And really? That's so sweet of you to say, and also it makes me so happy because I love poetry but mostly because I trully appreciate anyone who shares their creativity too. As I told you, I find so many great creators in here, I am thinking to somehow also find a way to share more works other than my own. Thank you for commenting, because I have now found your channel too 🤗

Hello everybody!! I thought I should add this info: There's a lot of other (slightly) hidden meanings showing on the video - all still related to 'saudade' and how it affects Portuguese culture and history, such as the colours, the veil, the nature elements and so on. However, let's see it as a puzzle with all the pieces to be put together to fully reflect the whole meaning of it, and I want each person to interpret it in their own way ☺️

I love solving puzzles. And also love getting to know the hidden meanings. However, doing it on my own is the first thing to do and so much fun! Let's talk about the latter later. haha.

@@Wabine Same as me, I love a good puzzle or riddle; but that's the thing, just like poetry - I want the meaning of the video to be open and to be intepreted by each person as they want, based on what they see and their own perspective (not necessarily how I saw it when filming it). I gave it my own meaning, but now I am leaving it open to interpretation 💜 :D

@@LessThanHuman404 Aw, the composer of this song is amazing. You should check his channel, because he has so many beautiful compositions ... I bought a few songs from him and even asked directly for permission, to which he replied very quickly :) Yes, you are getting very close to it. Due to Portugal's geography, the sea has a massive role in our history and it's partially connected to the origin of the word 'saudade'; it's also related to things that go away, and don't always come back... If you look at the way the waves are rolling, you might notice something about it (a little hint) :D

The wind which is invisible to our eyes but only visible through her veil seems like a poem to me and maybe it is indeed Saudade too. 'Saudade' is a beautiful word. Even before I check out the meaning, it was already so beautiful. Thanks for letting us know the meaning of it and introducing this great poem too. Poems console me whenever I have the most difficult times, along with the music. and I love this specific music you chose for this short film. And the color, Black. One more thing to say is I like the fact that you used old footage of your own. It gives me another way of understanding you as a person. 10 years is a quite long time. It just makes me smile thinking of you filming this footage a decade ago.🍄

Yes, the wind is one of the elements that can have a meaning here, also the colour black as you noticed. I was replying to Kiki saying a lot of things have a meaning on the video, so there's a lot of other meanings showing - I added a comment on this, as I feel I should had maybe hinted at it. Aww, poetry has so much emotion to it, plus the fact it's open to interpretation many times... it's a pure form of art. I'm glad you liked it, and feel free to share any poems you like anytime - I studied poetry for a long time, both in school and university, and still love to read it. Thank you 🍄 10 years ago I was already creating content, but it was all in the form of photography - so this footage came out of an eight hour long photo shoot, where I somehow recorded a few seconds as video

I think we all feel saudade every day! It sums up perfectly the way I feel when I think about my family, especially my mum. A deep longing right in my bones and my core to be home. This was visually beautiful. I really liked the opening with 'saudade' across the screen. And the lady with her veil.There is something intrinsically poignant about a veil blowing in the wind like that. It makes me think of both weddings and funerals. The happiest and saddest of times. I guess saudade encompasses both emotions really.
@fragmented_quietude
@fragmented_quietude 3 жыл бұрын
Gracias, Lavinia! Yes, it can be felt every day, missing people (friends and family) and especially I'm sure it's even felt more now in the pandemic. Saudade is exactly that, but you also got extremely close to the full meaning of it in our culture, especially when it's related with 'home' - saudade is a word that goes very deep. You are really really close to understanding the video and how it relates to this word; so far you have been the closest one to get it ♥️ Mentioning the black veil and wedding/funeral is very close to the actual message. The model can either be a representation of a widowed person, or maybe the abstract representation of something fragmenting, such as a wedding. 'Saudade' carries a lot of sadness when seen in culture and history, but when expressed to loved ones it carries a positive feeling of hope that you want and will see those people again. So both emotions indeed :D

Gracias, Corie. It’s one of those words that only exist in one language (I do think Galician Spanish might use it too due to the proximity to Portugal). I know... and can’t believe it had been 10 years already. Sometimes I regret not having started doing video back then, but somehow for this photoshoot (I have plenty of photos) I managed to record some seconds of it as well. Tu portugues es bueno jaja 😊

@@CoriesaysrelaxASMR Yes, gallego uses this word too. Other than, I think it's one of those words found on lists that only belong to a language or so. Some of the words on those lists are so beautiful, from many other different languages. You can practice your portuguese with me anytime. You have a big advantage, as spanish is relatively similar to portuguese - only a few different sounds for pronouncing some letters :) For me, Spanish and Italian are the most beautiful languages in the world 🥰

What a beautifully aching word ♥️ . I find myself reliving these words every day, without having to find the right words for it - every time our neighbor's cat decides to visit us for 10 minutes a day and leave us lingering with allergies... :) silly jokes aside, I do feel that this captures my thoughts whenever I think of my family. Thank you for capturing that so beautifully young Stillness from 10 yrs ago. :)

Thank you, Kyums! Being Portuguese, this word means a whole lot to me. There’s so much behind it, either just its meaning, the emotion it evokes or even how it connects with our history and culture. Yes that is it, that’s what you feel in regards to your family: saudade. We use this word a lot to express when we miss someone, but opposite to English, we don’t use it as a verb but as the name of the emotion itself (tho we also use nostalgia just like English, but somehow they’re like two different levels of emotion for us) 💙 Ps: The story about the cat made me laugh, so cute! 🐱

@@Kyums Ah!!! I just googled it... she is a portuguese fado singer!!!!! I had never heard of her! Wow, how do you know her? Aso, everybody here in the comments is getting so close to the different meanings of 'saudade' through various different details, and actually Fado - which is our traditional music - is heavily inspired by the feeling of Saudade. And often the clothes are similar to those that the model is wearing in the video. This is so amazing, I mean, the fact that you heard the singer and felt it too!! :) If you like Fado, there is a very very famous old song that even its video shows this emotion well. You can search for Dulce Pontes 'canção do mar'

@@fragmented_quietude Ever since J introduced me to her many years ago, she's in my "moon" playlist among other achingly beautiful music - mostly tango, some Mísia (especially Ese Momento) and some Argentine folk music (Mercedes Sosa) for melancholic, saudade vibes :) I've now added Dulce Pontes in my list! Thanks for the recommendation Stillness ♥️ It's nearly 10:30pm and looking at the moon right now and feeling these emotions is creating a bit of Stillness in me right now :)
