Saudi Arabia's decision not to join BRICS is beneficial for Russia, Iran, the UAE, and future member Venezuela. The combined proven oil reserves of Russia, Iran, Venezuela, and the UAE are approximately 706 billion barrels, while Saudi Arabia possesses about 298 billion barrels. Moreover, the oil industry in Saudi Arabia is predominantly under Western corporate control, unlike the industries in Russia, Iran, and Venezuela. Therefore, Saudi Arabia is not an ideal candidate for BRICS membership. It raises the question of why their application was accepted initially.
@salemhailu11-11

Actually I think BRICK sends invitation to countries. A country may express interest to join BRICS but has to get a formal invitation to join. Some accept as soon as they get the invitation, Arabia drags it for months before responding.

@@salemhailu11-11 , Countries interested in joining BRICS need to express their interest formally first before getting an invitation to become a member. Google it. Saudi Arabia plays game as usual. It will be the end of Saudi Arabia's influence if BRICS gets traction.

@TwoRials The fight between America on one hand and Russia-PRC on the other hand is existential. How can one expect Saudi Arabia too, to join such a fight? It is too much to express from her. She can't put her neck on that. Now.why she joined BRICS in the first place? because her biggest buyers No.1 PRC & No.2 India are in BRICS. That is why. It is a kinda.. trying to run with hares & hunt with the hounds. Somewhere she has to exercise her own decision somehow. And I must say that the US$ now has a fresh lease of life, if it doesn't degenerate into a global currency-war. It is also a setback to PRC that lassoed them both in.

Let us not become like Americans/ Saudi might have turned down joining BRICS but it does not mean they are their enemy. Saudi have their own issue as well and have to play safe. At least Saudi is using Yuan so it is good enough. Saudi does not owe anyone their loyalty so we should just try to understand the situation and not turn against those who love peace. BRICS is a group of people that want to survive in this world where America kept making problems and wars for their own selfish benefits. let us also keep the peace and hope for the best. It’s understood. I never expected Saudi Arabia 🇸🇦 to join BRICS in the first place. It’s too good to be true when the news came out a year ago. They are one of the countries that rely too heavily and too dependent on US and the West since the discovery of black gold in Middle East a long time ago. Now it’s hard for them to just say no or leave US and the West influences just like that. That’s the moral or lesson one should learn from them😊

If Saudi Arabia joined BRICS, the black gold means nothing because every big country in BRICS were selling oil, and also some country has produce it from biofuel. I ask AI the same question. Here is the reply. The claim that Saudi Arabia has officially declined BRICS membership appears to be inaccurate. Saudi Arabia did join BRICS earlier this year, officially beginning its membership in January 2024, along with other new members like the UAE, Egypt, Iran, and Ethiopia. This expansion of BRICS was a strategic move to increase the alliance's influence in global economic and geopolitical spheres, and Saudi Arabia accepted the invitation to participate in this extended grouping【7†source】【9†source】. While there may be speculation or debate regarding Saudi Arabia’s level of engagement with BRICS, particularly regarding its alignment with other members on certain policies, there is no confirmed report of Saudi Arabia officially withdrawing or declining its membership. It seems that the content you encountered may misrepresent or misconstrue ongoing discussions within BRICS. For the latest accurate updates, checking official announcements from BRICS or Saudi government sources is advisable.

The original agreement between Saudi Arabia and the U.S. ensured the House of Saud's rule in exchange for selling oil exclusively in U.S. dollars, securing the petrodollar system. This arrangement allowed the family to maintain control over Saudi Arabia while supporting the dollar as the primary currency for oil trade. Joining BRICS wouldn’t provide these same assurances, and with MBS soon to be declared King, he has opted to uphold the longstanding agreement to play it safe. This was primarily about securing family rule, not merely geo-political posturing. Naturally, the CIA stepped in to remind MBS of this reality. In the near future, these agreements will hold little significance as the world undergoes major transformations, and the Gulf states will inevitably be swept up in the powerful currents of global change.

@tompell3032 How can one do that (buying oil from within BRICS)? For that, a huge ground work (creating infra-structure) is needed and be in place before this announcement (of BRICS currency)-Venezuela should have joined BRICS. Russian oil must have "outlets" for the crude to flow freely through, to other countries as well. Being almost land-locked Russia has to have the co-operation of Iran & Turkey so that her crude reaches the needy countries - India for instance. Will Iran transport (through her territory, through pipelines, say) Russian crude, while her own crude is waiting to be sold? Cutting edge in the war between BRICS & the West (or G7 you may say) is the petro-dollar, finally. It is the petro-dollar that is causing the havoc. OPEC countries must adapt BRICS currency replacing US$. Will they?

As much as BRICS can want to be a neutral platform of exchange and trade between countries, the very fact of the Global South gaining its relative and deserved weight in geopolitics is a threat to the current order. There is space for neutrality between the two. Saudi Arabia has resumed ties with Iran, even doing joint naval operations with them. They have well-developped ties with Russia. Their rapprochement with Iran was done through the intermediary of China. BRICS already has the clout, the potential, to form independent institutions. One of the challenges always was, and always will be to integrate the different systems, to create a platform allowing for multipolarity. The development of BRICS is also the development of BRICS interactions with non-BRICS countries. Saudi Arabia can find advantages in staying out of BRICS. We have the UN, and the world platform certainly has limits. BRICS can also find advantages in a Saudi Arabia that is neutral.

Proposed support for the new BRICS currency and the new global financial system: ‌‌Creating a gold reserve that determines the amount of BRICS ‌‌‌Creating a central bank for BRICS ‌‌‌The gold stock is placed in a small country and must be protected internationally such as Bahrain, Qatar or Singapore ‌‌‌Evaluating everything in terms of gold such as oil, gas, precious stones, commercial goods, etc., then returning it to the BRICS value ‌‌‌If we divide the 24-karat gram into 50 pieces, each piece is 0.02 of a gram, which is the BRICS value, meaning that one BRICS equals 0.02 grams of gold, and this value is more than the euro and the dollar ‌‌‌That is, the value of 1 gram of 24-karat gold equals 50 BRICS ‌‌The value of 1 kilogram of 24-karat gold equals 50 thousand BRICS ‌‌The value of 1 ton of gold equals 50 million BRICS ‌‌The value of 1000 tons of 24-karat gold equals 50 billion BRICS ‌‌Printing the currency and making it a unified currency for these countries and not remaining It is an electronic currency (printing the BRICS currency according to the gold reserve mentioned earlier) Cancel the oil countries from selling oil in dollars forever Cancel trade in dollars or any other currency except BRICS Finally, before starting this, countries must get rid of the dollar in their banks and buy anything with gold or even underwear to get rid of it because the dollar is a worthless currency I advise everyone to get rid of the dollar and buy pure gold or any precious metal or precious stone because the dollar is a paper that has no gold equivalent

@clarenceedwards2866

Absolutely no surprises here, and allow me to say why I don't see this as a game changer. It is likely to impact negatively on the Saudis economy given the weakness of the dollar that is occasioned not only by the continual dumping of US treasuries, but also by the mass purchasing of gold by the world's central banks which is contributing significantly to the weakening of the dollar. Take a look at the current price of gold to see how rapidly that commodity's price increased in just 2 years all to the detriment of the dollar. As gold increases the dollar decreases. If the Saudis continue to sell their oil in dollars, they will be the losers.
@MrPoornakumar

@clarenceedwards2866 29 күн бұрын
@@MrPoornakumar Let me start this reply by saying that I am not an economist and all I know is what I can glean from listening to the experts. However, I'm sure that the Saudis are buying gold as well; but why would they use dollars to buy gold unless they were selling any US treasuries they are holding to make the purchase? To sell their oil in dollars and then use those dollars to purchase goods could result in a loss depending on who they are shopping with. For example, Russia and China to a large extent are no longer trading in dollars, and depending on the degree of trade between Saudi Arabia and these 2 countries will determine the need or lack thereof for dollars.

@@clarenceedwards2866 May be you're right there. It is OK if I hold on to $ when it is going up. I need to get rid of it, if it is going down (its purchasing power is diminishing). @clarenceedwards2866
@clarenceedwards2866 29 күн бұрын
@@MrPoornakumar Yes indeed, the Chinese know what time it is. Question about the Rupee: is it pegged to the dollar? Because if a currency is pegged to the dollar, it's like people on a sinking ship; they all go down together. I hope that the Indian government would float the rupee as opposed to hamstringing it with another currency; unless of course it is a union like BRICS.
@MrPoornakumar
@MrPoornakumar 29 күн бұрын
@@clarenceedwards2866 After roaming around, all over Economic landscapes, it comes (back) to Petroleum (crude oil) imports by India & the price at which it is to be bought. So, India tailored her import needs on this. Petroleum is bought against payment of dollars and India has no choice. Its a tight bind. Every time India wants to collect dollars, its exchange rate (against Rupee) soars. It has been so all along India's 75-year, independent existence. When Russia offers Petroleum at low rates (concessional) & by payment of Rupees, would India not grab that offer? India damn cares, two hoots for international sanctions or what other (European)countries preach India. She does what is right for her people.
