Here in Australia, all the money is publicly scrutinised and has to be provided largely by the tax payer. No money can be pushed under the table to bribe FIFA officials. Honestly, and I'm saying this from a purely organisational standpoint, we could pull off a killer World Cup. We've got the big stadiums that already can be converted for soccer matches - the infastructure around it is all there. We had the Women's World Cup last year and it was a smash, even non-soccer fans turned up in droves! We loved it! The only thing you'd need to do is maybe expand a few stadiums in the regional cities like Canberra - which we've been wanting to do anyway for our domestic sports. There are about 50 data centres being built for NEOM, I met the project manager for the projects in Dubai recently. You should do a story on all that data centre development. It's almost as crazy as the Line.

Okay, I’ll bite… Why is the late Bernard Cribbins playing Wilfred Mott being shown at 3:17 with the words “COURTESY OF BUNGIE/ECKHARTS LADDER” (your caps), especially when the video is from Doctor Who episode The End of Time, Part 2 (I think), who’s copyright is probably held by the BBC?

So it wasn't just me who thought that bit was weird? Also, the footage choice for Halo was terrible. They went to make an architectural or stylistic comparison with Halo but I'd say didn't even really try the visual comparison, instead covering it up with something that could have resembled a joke under conditions I fail to see.

So we can at least all agree that half of these stadiums will not exist by the time the WC rolls around.

Majority of poor people in developing countries don't have: Piped water, drainage, sewers, refuse collection, welfare payments (for basic food shelter and clothing), paved sidewalks, roads, street lighting, clean public schools access, clean public hospitals access, access to impartial justice. Providing all of those things will create millions of real jobs in addition to lifting the country out of hovel status. That's what our governments should be focused upon, not hugely expensive luxury projects. Just my take, no offense intended towards anyone.

4:04 The mad spirit of experimental architecture is to be applauded especially as it's withering on the vine in the current cost conscious climate. As just mentioned, how close will these imagined befores be to their actual afters? Can you foresee a situation where FIFA permits all those distracting screens to be on during world cup matches? Can you imagine the added pressure on the players to beat the competition? Not from the other team but from the screens. Finally, can you imagine that if FIFA allows them to be functioning during a game, can you imagine them allowing anything other than the live feed or replays on them? I dunno, something like adverts to be shown too..‽ Of course they will!!!

Remember, renders are marketing, the real thing will be different.

The Aramco-Stadium looks like a copy of the Baháí Temple in Santiago. Who ever visits Chile should have a day in this beautifull building :)

Very enjoyable as always 👍 However I will believe these tenders when I see them built, which I doubt will happen.
wow, the saidis will really do anything besides acctually helping the world.

In my opinion, The Line has not been marketed or presented in the right way. As I see it, the Arabian Peninsula is an environmentally stressed region-it’s a desert with limited water resources, frequent sandstorms, and extremely hot weather for half the year. To me, The Line is a project aimed at creating a sustainable urban environment in the desert. It serves as a model for building sustainable living in a challenging environment. I believe if this had been explained to the world from the beginning, people would have taken the project more seriously.
