A devastating incident at a Christmas market in Magdeburg, Germany, has left two dead, including a child, and dozens injured after a car plowed into a crowd. Authorities report 68 injuries, with 15 in critical condition.
The suspect, identified as Taleb A., a 50-year-old psychiatrist from Saudi Arabia, has been arrested. He had lived in Germany since 2006 and was granted refugee status in 2016.
Officials believe the attack was carried out alone, but the severity of injuries raises concerns about more potential fatalities.
German media revealed the suspect’s past social media posts, where he criticised Islam and warned about the “dangers” of Germany becoming more Islamic. Investigations are ongoing.
