I'm sure that the majority of Pensioners are not flocking to Restaurants, going on Holidays and generally 'living it up'. For most a Cuppa and a Sandwich at a local Cafe is a treat. That's probably on the 'Pensioner Special' once a week Lunchtime Deal. The very idea that as an 'Oldie' you shouldn't be able to pop to eat out, go on even a budget holiday, buy new clothes etc, after a lifetimes work is disgraceful. The risk is not the same for over 40s as it is for cousin marriage. Most women over40 with proper pre natal care have healthy children. It is the duty of the government to ensure that the price of fuel is affordable for all. When energy was at normal, affordable prices then the winter fuel payment was not given or needed The government ,because of ideology, has driven up energy prices to luxury levels; obviously the poorer people in society cannot afford it. This is why relief is needed to ensure old people are not made victims of irresponsible state imposed ideology.
