I love my Sauer. 60gr Hornady TAP shoot amazingly well. I have shot 10 rounds under an inch and get 5 rounds consistently. Thanx for the review.

Nice light weight and accurate rifle and not expensive either. Ozzie I’m hoping you can do a review of another budget European rifle , the Mauser M18 that is about the same price as the Sauer S100 .

Thanks for the review Aussie, that action is a dead ringer for my Thompson centre venture in 223 which is made by Smith and Wesson, I wonder if saur did a deal with them.

Mate they have a 5 shot moa guarantee. The magazine was an issue with mine but it was an easy fix, chamfer the edges on the top of mag and it works every time. Another good video, thanks 👍

The very first time I took mine out I dropped a brand new lucky 13 mag straight in the dirt. I stuck the mag in the rifle and it stayed there until it was well clear of anything that it could fall on without filling up with crap. Lesson learned.

I bought this gun about a year ago and it has been great. Funny that the only issue you found was the magazine being hard to get in if not on the right angle because that is what i found also.

@neilboyle17684 жыл бұрын
I have the sauer fieldshoot in .223 absolutely wonderful rifle, love tge timber stock, unfortunately i have the same issue with the magazine. I found if i engage it with a slight more pressure rear on the magazine there is no issue but if not square on or slight rear it will jam everytime. But beautiful rifle
@neilboyle17684 жыл бұрын
I find the heavier barrel more comfortable, my wife has a .23 in howa and i find that light. As far as accuracy for most shooters its practice, practice, practice with the rifle. Get to know it as good as you know your own hand. I comfortably hit 2inch gong at 300yds, can do it with my wifes also but ill hold it differently because its lighter. Basically i found the fieldshoot "fit" me thats half the battle won

I've yet to find a 223 (particularly) that doesn't like Fed Prem ammo. Those Sauers are a brilliant rifle nonetheless, there should be a fix for the mag problem kicking around somewhere. Thanks for the review Oz.

I use Lucky 13 10-round magazines in my Sauer. They feed perfectly every time. Much more reliable than the magazine that came with it.

@jmkhenka4 жыл бұрын
yes, but better. Only plus with tikka is the large 3rd party extras (stocks etc). The rem 700 and tikka t3x is the most common rifles.. but the tikka is not as refined as the sauer 100 and sauer makes nice stock for it to for range work.
@mattyv74994 жыл бұрын
I own one of these beasts in .270 win. Shoots like a dream. Just wish the recoil pad was a little better on the wood stock. Can be a bit punishing from the bench doing load development. I wouldn't see this being a problem in lighter recoil calibre's. They look and feel great in the hand the barrel is slightly thicker then expected making it a tad heavier then expected. To the bloke that was asking about top loading. You can top the S100s of from the top no issues.

Couldn't agree more on the magazine, I had one and got rid of it because of the magazine issue. Reliably is everything to me, great site.
@johnwilmott80634 жыл бұрын
Interesting to see it handled the lightest ammo best. Thought with a 1/10 twist the 55/64 grain would have the edge. Have a cz 527 1/9 twist it likes the 55/64 grain best. I'd love to have the facility you have to shoot. Good value German made rifle all the same, pity about the mag glitch.

Hey Ozzie, is there any chance of doing a review on the Lithgow LA101 in 17hmr?
@jmkhenka4 жыл бұрын
the issue with the magazine is probably due to the way its made for 223. I had the sauer 101, and like the mauser m18 they share the exact same magazines. But the long action 6.5x55 is the magazine lenght and does not have that filler etc that the 223 has. I also belive that you can just push the bullets from the top, you dont need to load them from the front like he does. I never had to do that in the 6.5x55 i had or the 308 Mauser M18 i tested
@bennonlapworth50264 жыл бұрын
Ozzie how did you find the stock? Many of the cheaper bracket rifles the synthetic stocks seem hollow and not ridgid. Was this the same?

Awesome video Ozzie👍 Any chance you could do a review on the ruger American ranch ar mag in 223 or 300blk? Thanks
@sarnginthebrave32854 жыл бұрын
menace965 I have the longer barrel version with the AR mag. The amount the mag sticks out the bottom can be a little annoying at time when hunting. And the bolt hold open gives me the shits. But nice having 10 in the mag for target practice. Depending on where you are in Aus, these mags are likely expensive and hard to get. I tried to order some from QLD but was told they have to be sent to my local dealer for collection and they charge a fee to receive them. Accuracy is good enough for hunting though. Little under an inch at 100m with OSA game kings. I'm mostly shooting pests off the wing mirror of the car and usually 50 to 150m

Hey mate been watching for ages and love your stuff. Would love to see a review on the Remington 783 I have one in 223 good action and good accuracy out of it just a shame the polymer stock is a bit cheap.
@harrykalos8540 Жыл бұрын
Have had one of these for a couple years now in .223 The cerakote finish is starting to look bad, discolour in some areas and a little rough in other spots, and I havnt even been rough with it. Bit of a feeding issue with the first round out of the magazine, hard to push in, I believe it's the angle that it comes out that is the problem. The stock still looks good and it's a very accurate shooter. Would I buy another one? Probably not in a cerakote finish.

Hi Ozzie, can you do a Sauer 404 XTC review? I am in particular interested in its accuracy, cheers
@akent463 ай бұрын
The magazine lock in is definitely a big issue. I have lots of trouble locking mine in as the seem of the polymer catches on the base of the entry point on the gun. A terible design flaw for an otherwise great firearm, i am searching for an aftermarket fix.
@chrissue41314 жыл бұрын
The mag insert issue is the one reason I crossed the Saur S100 off my list when I had a look at one a few months ago at a local gun shop. It is incredibly annoying and fidgety and the reason I’ve chosen the Lithgow. I would be interesting to see how the Saur Fieldshoot would go or if it suffers the same problems. Nice review none the less

Thanks for the review. Magazines are enough to put me off rifles as well. Trying to find a good rifle that I can top load in the field is a nightmare as well when you are looking around the $1,250 mark too. Have you got any videos on a top loading rifle around that price point?
@tikka24334 жыл бұрын
James Scott-Mackenzie Most factory Howas are top feed and the ones that aren’t are easily changed with a bottom plate. Great shooting rifles and lots of aftermarket stocks and accessories. And the price of them is a bonus too.
