I have this rifle in 30-06 and 9.3x62 and they both shoot great! The 30-06 puts Hornady Whitetail 150gr and Remington Corelokt 180gr RN in the same sub-1.5" group at 100 yds.

Love the channel guys. I always appreciate the reviews, and hunting footage. The last video included chuck hunting with that her Bergara hmr, and it sold me on purchasing one myself. I also like the looks of the dark camo stocked Savage 6.5 Of Eric’s. You guys have some great rifles.

If I remember correctly you should not need to break the barrel in as its cold hammer forged, there really won't be imperfections that need to be smoothed out like a competition cut barrel. I have this rifle in 8x57mm mauser and love it.

Great video and well done. I had this rifle in 30-06 and it shot remarkably accurate in 3 or 4 brands of ammo. Settled on the 165gr GMX by Hornady because of the consistent .75” groups. I’m only 5’9” and I found the length of pull at 14.4” to be a little stretch for me so I cut down the stock, inserted a wooden block and put a pachmyer on it to my lop of 13.5”. I eventually sold the rifle but now have a Sauer 101 xt in 7 Rem. Doing the same thing with it too. I just wish Sauer would lower the lop or at least put on a decent recoil pad instead of that hockey puck material. But great rifles. Hard to beat a 5 round detachable mag that holds 5 in 06 length and 4 in magnum actions. My 7 shot 3 brands of factory ammo .75”-1.2” and I’m not done testing the other brands yet.

I have the same rifle. It’s a pretty sweet rifle, but it would not fire lapua brass. It would soft strike the primers. Switched to adg LRP brass. It has a 1-8.5 or 1-9 twist as far as I remember.

I have been considering getting the Sauer classic 100 xt 6.5 cm but these groups are- Terrible. If this is the expected accuracy.. how does this compare to a tikka in any form? Or bergara or savage axis ii xp ? My tikka, bergara, even Ruger American in various calibers shoot well under an inch! I was really interested in this rifle as the price point at this time is very good…. The most overlooked rifle is the First Gen. TC Venture. ‘If you know, you know’ 3/8” groups with .308 The Bergara wilderness ridge is smoking accurate with the 129’s (bergara recommends 143 eld) Someone tell me if the tested ammo doesn’t work for this rifle or if the rifle actually sux?

Hi Chuckin, great video man, thanks for the test and details. I have one question to you though, I checked your other out of the box video for Tikka T3x Lite as well, so now that you have both rifles Tikka T3x and Sauer 100 Classic XT for a while, what would you say, suggest to me? I am planning to buy one of those two and I'm quite lost with all the reviews and comparisons I found online. Another option I look at is Browning AB3. Your input is much appreciated.

Get a Tikka. I like their actions and triggers just a little bit better. The Tikka is a 24" barrel instead of Sauer's 22". The Sauer has an edge on the magazine and a better extraction system. With that being said I haven't had any extraction issues with any of the 4 Tikka's that I've owned. Tikka also has a better after market support. I wont put down the Sauer by any means. I'd only recommend a Sauer over a Tikka if you are getting it for a couple hundred less.

I have never had much luck with lighter grain loads as far as super tight grouping, but the 140, 143, and 147 Eld line up has always done well in my rig....but as you said those would all be kill shots on game if that's your only goal! Looks like a great rifle imo!

Is this with factor ammo or hand loads? the reason my asking is I hand load, I shoot 129gr. SST! I get 1/2" all day long! My personal best is 3/8" group, these are all 5 shoot groups! Out of my franken' rifle witch is a steavens 200 factor rifle I put a savage model 12 6.5 Creedmoor barrel on! My hunting load is a 120gr.Barnes TTSX, killed 3 deer with that load last year.

Great question! I gotta give it to any one of my Tikka T3(x) Lites. I have 3; 6.5CM, 7mm RM, and 300WM. With the calibers aside, I've always been a huge fan of the T3s for their value and accuracy. I think this Sauer is on par with the Tikkas but I have very limited experience with it so far.

I don't think there needs to be a break in procedure. But over time, through normal use and cleaning you will see a difference in speeds and accuracy. The barrel will smooth out some of it's imperfections. That's been my experience with lots of different rifles.

In almost 60 years of hunting and reloading I have seen that to be the case for then just a couple times too. Great ammo for deer but wouldn’t recommend it for elk because you should be using only premium bullets on elk just in case you get an up close shot. I once had a shot at 60 yards with Nosler partition on an elk and the billet hit a bone and totally flew apart, just found the outside jacket on the bone after tracking it about 3 more miles fir another shot! Accubond and Barns X for elk and you would have to factor in if it’s going to hold together🤔😳
